Apparently they want players that don't want to participate in the gameplay to be able to engage on an "economy layer" via NFT's and "Fantasy"-cards. They can't pull this off on Steam, so they are re-releasing on EPIC. Can't make this s**t up.

About the actual gameplay: It felt solid and was fun to play. Offered a PvE and PvP Mode. I liked the simplistic graphic style and overall UI Design.

This game is a must have for anyone that loves rpgs, science-fantasy stories and experimentation. The amount of freedom this game gives is almost endless. It is one of the games that, if you invest time into it, it will pay back your investment many times.

There are people that wish for "such a game" to have "better" graphics, being 3D even... I can only say:

This game only can be so complex and interesting because of the lack of complex visuals and animations. It is just not feasable to create all the effects, animations and models that would cover the crazy stuff that is possible in this game.
It taps into something way more powerful than plain computer graphics, it makes your fantasy go wild, and after you play for a bit and stick with it, you don't care for the "look" anymore (which btw are still great), the pixelart is just the medium to convey the story, like letters and words in a book, they invoke the images in your head, if you allow it . That is way more than any "3D scene" can give you.

The music and the sounddesign is so great at immersing you into the game, oozing atmosphere, that it helps immensly to kickstart your imagination.

No way to turn off crossplay. Infested with cheaters, bad matchmaking.

This an Artwork. Absolute must play in my opinion. Its mysterious, its strange and intriguing.

Clever puzzles, often very tactile and physics driven, are challenging you while you are driven to continue because you want to discover what is going on.

"the combat is so clunky" says everyone who doesn't fn know to drop his backpack.

Anyways...

if you like old school rpgs and atmospheric games with lots of stuff to discover this is great. Learning the mechanics and how to use/combine them to help you, might use some of your brainpower, but at least it feels way more rewarding than any triple A "open world" game where you run down checklists neatly displayed on your HUD for you to follow.

Will add more to the review when I got further, but it is already a big phat recommend for me. Stay away when you think exploring a world while controlling a character that feels rooted in it by inconveniences to overcome, is a waste of time and you need your questmarkers to "complete" a game in the most time-efficient way possible.

One last thing... A game that is not made to appeal to a broad audience might get judged harshly by said broad audience but can nevertheless be a fantastic game for the actual audience it is made for.

It's a fantastic game. I enjoyed every hour so far.

Skills YOU need to bring:
- reading
- understanding of game mechanics
- attention span longer than a tiktokers goldfish

If you like the Warhammer 40k universe or you ever wanted to get your toes wet with it, this game is in my opinion the best choice so far. It has deep character creation, that is not as slow paced as some other games, since you level up alot more often and therefor really can specialize and tweak your character. (And no fear about bad choices, you can adjust it later).

Not everything is voice acted but the bits that are, are top notch and really enjoyable. I got the chills from the emotion conveyed by the voice actress at one point...
The characters are diverse and written well, as far as I can tell for now. I have not yet been super far, but the amount of systems the game offers is amazing. The graphics are stylized and crispy clean, yet still very fitting for the wh40k universe with lots of details. Sound and Soundtracks are well done and a joy to listen to. The UI is extremly well made, very stylish and userfriendly at the same time.

I know it's a lot of praise, but unlike others I have no problems with bugs or anything negative so far. I will update the review if I find things that bother me, but so far I can wholly recommend this game, its actually a fair price, too.

This game is proof that graphics come second when it comes to good games. It is all about tone and atmosphere and freedom of action. And Kenshi nails it. If you ever wanted to play a true sandbox survival RPG in a post-apocalyptic world. Kenshi is your best option.

The world in Kenshi just exists. The world does not care if you are there or not. You are not the star of the show, you are a weak pleb just somewhere in this gigantic unforgiving land full of danger. The lore is told by the environment and the inhabitants instead of being shoved into your face through linear quests. In fact its a world that has history that can be discovered or ignored and the true story of the game is created through your actions and decisions and encounters inside this world. If you need handholding and the game telling you what to do, you will not be happy with it. If not you will be the happiest.

This game is the ultimate "become whatever you like to be" game. You might be a weak pleb when you start and the road is long and full of hurdles to overcome. But when you have a goal and stick with it, you can get there. You want to focus on your character and become a master thief roaming the lands solo to survive? Why not? You want to build your own city? Sure, no problem (Just don't forget prayer day)... You want to be a slave trader, a relic hunter association, make your own drug cartell or even just kidnap people and replace their limbs with robotic ones for the fun of it? Its all possible but the way to your goal will be full of hardships and horrible incidents for your character(s) you can't really prepare for.

The combat is addicitve and always fun to watch because of the detailed health system and dire consequences it can have. The combat is semi-active, it is a real time simulated battle, decided by the individual character stats and equipment of the participants, while you can still move your character to get into better positions. Being struck down will only make you tougher (if you survive) and every fight will train you for the next one. That way you will slowly become a strong fighter.

The game might have its technical flaws but the whole experience of it makes up for it 1000x. It is a true "one of a kind" game and I highly recommend it if you are interested in sandbox rpgs and/or colony simulation.

This game has a great vision and simulates space very well. The distances are vast and the ships handle really well. The sound design is OUTSTANDING. The community is the heartbeat of the game.

Sadly though, the gameplay is super shallow and uninspired. The systems are EXTREMELY grindy. To navigate you kind of have to use third party software. The game pumps out copium through your headphones because the core community will defend the game no matter how little the developer itself cares for it. No its actually understandable because the vision and the base of the game is promising and hope dies last. But the developer is just keeping it on life-support it seems.

I always stay informed and check in with the game and whats going on like every year just to see that so little things happened in that year, that you could mostly say, nothing actually happened beside the community projects.

Can't recommend it in this state. Frontier DO SOMETHING.
