great game weather im socializing with other players, passively skilling or actively playing into the adventure rpg aspect. the game is very "make-your-own-adventure" and exploration and questing is great when i have time to dedicate to actively playing, if i have other responsibilities to take care of in day-to-day life then this becomes the perfect game to give less attention to and let my levels go up in the background of my other responsibilities.

once the story line ends (which is already short and not too well written) The game just isnt playable outside of bot matches because online never connects with anyone unless you are willing to wait four hours per match

desktop version needs more controlls but other than that its a great thing..... perfect way to utilize your VR headset.... what's that? you dont actually own one and are playing this in desktop mode just to play it? well that proves how great it is even WITHOUT VR.....

2025 Edit :I miss when it was in early Open Beta, the oversaturation of content and change of developers over and over again has left a bad taste in my mouth, i have 2000 hours in this on steam alone, but i cant say i didnt see it coming that the game has died and wont be updated anymore- ive watched the game grow from 18 to 59 playable characters, more than three times the amount of early open beta- i watched the rise and fall of version 64, i watched all of the bugs and mechanics changes, from cards to items to talents to everything and its only the same game that it used to be, in the core sense of things.
the game was IMMENSELY fun when it was still something more niche and in early open beta but i cant log in without being done after two matches anymore.

This game was fascinating to me in all aspects, I enjoyed it thoroughly and hope that my retirement at 1k hours (when I get there) will be enjoyable. I truly love this game, and loved it from the time I was mining like a noob, to completing a summoning run in 2 hours. Thanks Andrew Spinks, Thanks to Re-Logic and thanks to all versions of terraria (as combined I have at least 2k hours of my life in this game counting together the time I have spent from all platforms) and Thanks to steam for putting this game on sale for the summer sale about one fourth of the way through the 1.2 updates! I enjoy this game, goodbye.
