Early Access Review
Background on my perspective & history with gaming so you can decide if my opinion matters:

I am a 24 year old American musician living abroad in Taiwan with my wife. I do not speak mandarian so my only English communication is really inside of MMO games, FB with friends and family, etc...

I come from a gaming history on the PC with my first love of games being MMORPG like Conquer Online, runescape, WOW, etc...

Quickly as I moved to consoles I fell in love with single player RPGs such as the witcher series, bioshock 1-3***, all of the Elder Scrolls, fable (< I'm sorry), borderlands series, dying light, etc

I have always played these games as if they were persistent worlds and truly dove into the progression min / maxing elements. When I play a game I immerse myself in it, following the current expert YouTube players, watching twitch streams, becoming actively engaged in forums... Anything I can to get a leg up and progress efficiently in these RPG esc games.

Now disclaimer: I have never truly played a persistent MMO survival game until Ark

This was the game I had thought I was playing in all of the above but had yet to truly experience.

1000+ hours of skyrim left me empty in that I had mastered the map... There was no true progression left, and mainly with all the games listed before I was only benefiting myself. Yes we have guilds and clans in some of the MMO's but for the exception of guide war game modes there was little point for me to be pouring in hours into these games except to be more pvp powerful than the next joe. I have been searching for a game without even knowing one could exist that was truly persistent, populated, challenging, and rewarding on more than a min / max scale.... That was until I found Ark Survival Evolved - I will now begin my review

Ark Survival Evolved

This is a game for those who love adapting play styles, techniques, load outs in order to advance and grow in a persistent world of challenge.

This is a game for anyone who is fascinated by the jungles of Farcry and the building mechanics (that are being polished now) of a crafting game.

This is a game for those who can be social, responsible, and can communicate with others to grow on a communal level.

This is a game for those who want a world to dive into and truly immerse themselves for 1000+ hours

I have found the community to actually be incredibly helpful , supportive, giving, and kind - keep in mind I'm a "mature" gamer 24+ that knows how to "handle" global chat - if your a young kid who goes on a temper tantrum after losing 10 hours of work you will get eaten alive in this game and you will quit.

This is a game that going into you MUST understand NOTHING is permanent

This is a game where you MUST learn from what happens to you and understand that everything you lose or gain is YOUR FAULT and you must adapt accordingly - this can include how you interact with other players, building locations, building techniques, etc

This is truly a beautiful world, one that allows you to find yourself grinding out hours and days at a time for something bigger than just yourself.

This is an early access game, one that is updated almost daily and has many bugs, errors, glitches. But again you can be a part of this process! If you report these things the devs will respond and fix them! This in my mind is simply another global skill tree we are as a community working towards mastering.

This is a game where everything you have done, physically may be erased tmro, but the knowledge, contacts, and skills you have gained can never be taken from you.

This is a game worth playing :D
