Early Access Review
Gut instinct tells me this game was absolutely hilarious and amazingly fun and engaging...to make. Playing it however is an act against your base senses, the european architecture mixed with what I could only call an interns work attempting to emulate villes original style of pulsing meat flesh mixed with postmodern sad feelings at font design or weapon FX. This game physically hurts me to look at or shoot the weapons, like I cant read the text without it hurting my eyes. Im sure ville has good intentions feeding his commune of small artists he made into a studio but the actual base creativity and fun that made Cruelty Squads world fun to explore is lacking in this. I feel like im watching another countries politics being memed about when I have no stake in the game, exploring sad brown large rooms and have no npc worth talking to and everyone has vaguely italian names like I dunno man this feels like some form of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ made in house. The price isnt worth the content in the game, there isnt a real sense of progress nor anything really exciting to do. Listen I get its frustrating to make a sequel and have everyone remind you about the original game but jesus christ coming from the downright wonderfully bizzare landscapes Cruelty squad offered and downright exciting level design where even today I find new routes in levels I never knew existed, to this brown piece of excrement modeled to make you mad about grey asscrag europolitics. Do it again with more style next time or maybe have different actual outcomes from your class choices like new playthrough perspectives or story but as it is, this is just dissapointing to see. I was genuinely excited for a game from ville and this felt like he maybe let ♥♥♥♥♥♥ devs make it for him

This sequel is a lot more inviting than the previous title. Subnautica was a desolate horror game (for me) where I had to confront my worst primal fears while all alone, paranoia dictating every decision, but I grew as a person by confronting those fears and can now go kayaking without being scared of the water since reaper leviathans don't exist in real life.

This sequel had none of that existential terror and dread. What it did replace it with though gives me solid hope for the developers future titles. The world feels fun to explore and base building is back in full swing with many of your important to get recipes being fairly early on to customize your base, the seatruck operated for me as a small base when going back and forth for materials, the sleeper addition being the comfiest with a built in juke-box. Al-An being your companion and even the rogue Margurite makes the game feel a lot less isolating and lonely, this is a good thing when the game is designed around it like it has been. I rarely used my snowfox and only made it to get an achievement as the good ol prawn suit works better than any other vehicle on land, allowing you to stay safe in a fat robot spiderman while hot lava worms try and eat your soul. I got lost pretty easily as there weren't radius specific markers but location ones so I missed a lot of beacon activations that would have helped me like the phi robots lab not showing up till I had already explored it, but that is a minor gripe and the game overall felt amazing.

I look forward to seeing what the developers come up with next, I think and hope the next title will be space themed as I believe they have reached the limit on ocean fears and water biomes for now, the ship segment really left me in physical awe of its design and magnitude, I also loved the alien biology explanation and lore for the Architect race, I look forward to jumping into the unknown for the next game. Thank you for delivering a solid game in an age where that is rare.

I got this mainly because I had a new vr headset and needed a game besides minecraft. I was blown away to find one of the most fulfilling survival games I have ever played. The sense of fear always feels on the back of your neck but you are fairly safe unless you roam into danger. I constantly felt my expectations subverted when it came to the wildlife and the story felt fun and alien. Overall I would rate this an 8/10/ I only dock points because it has a few environmental clipping problems and glitches like one that cost me my first baby Seamoth, or being jettisoned from your Cyclops, or god forbid getting your PRAWN stuck in an alien lab all because you were too lazy to walk. Do not save if you aren't positive your vehicles are well positioned. I would highly reccomend this game to anyone wanting to try something new and get out of their comfort zone. I had a big fear of the ocean in real life, I still do but thats Subnaut the point.

Didn't finish high school or have friends in real life, very comforting game to fill that void. 10/10 and the custom settings being unlocked ASAP instead of ng+ like vita version was nice. My only warning is regarding the achievement Reader King which involves getting all the books during your year in inaba, on both my first playthrough the book "The Witch Detective" from the Strength Social Link sports team involves saying yes to a very specific hangout on a specific date and if your friendship is too high or too low you won't get this offer, needless to say this is not the best realization in december when you are clearing your final books. Overall this game is amazing and offers things for Megaten dungeon crawling demon collectors as well as all of your friendship simulator needs. You will experience a depression after playing this game and finally finishing all the content Inaba had to offer you and I wouldn't have it any other way!

I started this game, got frustrated and lost, then came back 2 months later after a friend told me to give it a second shot. I now have 500 hours logged and have speedrun the game without dying. I can easily say this is worth the amount and the sense of progression and depth make this a really good game to sink into. It got me over my fear of spiders but now im horny for hornet so who knows if I really won.
