Armored Core 6 is a solid game, but it does not do Armored Core fans justice.

To clarify my background, I have played Armored Core 2, 3, Silent Line, 4, and For Answer years before this game. 3 grew on me, and For Answer being my favorite of the series. I grew to become a blader in the For Answer community building lightweight, strong forward thrusting boosters with a single laser blade, Dodging most (if not all) projectiles and circling around my opponents.

The Tutorial Mission
My initial start of the game was getting used to the controls. Had no problems with the controls, except for the OverboostAssault Boost feeling weird to disengage. In previous Armored Core games, the Assault Boost could be disengaged by pressing the same button, but in this game, you have to tilt back the analog stick or shift back to normal boosting. Over time, I adjusted to this change.

Tutorial mission goes smooth until I am greeted with the boss, and then I start to finally understand the drawbacks of the default AC and game mechanics for me:
  • Somewhat difficult to stay suspended in the air (expected for a default AC, but this fight needed me to fly more)
  • Stagger is annoying for both trying to use it to your advantage, and to your own detriment.
  • Laser Blades have cooldown
  • Projectile weapons don't deal enough damage to this thing.
After a few retries and more focus on blade attacks, I am finally able to defeat him. "I can access more parts and the shop now... Surely I can sell some of these parts, and build the mech that I desire to fight with!"

Welcome Back, Raven.
The words I've always wanted to hear after all these years just hurt.
After a bit more struggling, I eventually open the shop. As a native blader, a new generator is a must. The default AC has pretty bad EN capacity and recharge. In my history of the Armored Core franchise, I've always built light frame mechs, but load the heaviest of generators (which usually have very high capacities and recharge rates). My only option, is a generator that greatly increases recharge rate, at the cost of capacity.

I almost quit the game then and there, but as a veteran, I knew more parts would become available as you progress through the game. So I keep struggling along with the game.

The following section is my experience after "The Wall" mission, hidden in case readers don't want spoilers.

Ready to climb the wall?
At this point, I start to make a somewhat familiar build for myself. I have a new laser blade (that I should have tried out in an AC test before doing this mission), a mid range rifle (because laser blade cooldown irritation, and it's useful to pick off smaller enemies), dropped all back weapons to reduce weight, and slightly better thrusters on a light frame AC.

The mission goes okay with me sneaking around and picking off smaller enemies. When it comes to the larger enemies, I stay within close proximity of them to avoid large weapon fire with quick boosts to the side, and using my laser blade as soon as cooldowns allow me to.

The wall boss however, due to my playstyle of me staying close to him as much as possible, made things a bit difficult as me trying to stand on his back for most of the fight, he would use his charge attack (which would still hit me, so probably hitbox related). Took me 1 retry with the convenient checkpoint to handle that.

I'm starting to feel a sense of familiarity with the mechanics at this point, but I still feel the struggle when it comes to the boss fights.

The Arena
This is probably the most Armored Core-true part of the game. Simple 1v1 fights against enemy ACs, with one small change I actually like: You can't pick what arena to fight in.
In older Armored Core games, the player was almost always allowed to pick the arena they wanted to fight in. Naturally, the player would use this to their advantage to play in arenas less favorable to the enemy's playstyle (Fighting an AC that likes to fly around a lot? Pick an arena with an enclosed space!). This forces players to fight the ACs in a more natural manner than cheesing the AI by picking an unfavorable arena,

About that deluxe edition soundtrack and art book...
After a few hours of playing the game, I decide I want to kick back and listen to the OST.... I can't find the OST in the game's files as easily obtainable music files.
After a few minutes of looking around, I find that the art book and OST are an entirely separate application in the launcher...
A few more minutes, I find you can extract the music from the application as MP3s.

Given MP3 files as an only option for a soundtrack feels very upsetting (Maybe just finishing up Bomb Rush Cyberfunk made me feel worse about this, as they offered both MP3s and WAVs), and part of me wanted to request a refund for the deluxe edition, and just buy the standard edition.

Conclusion/TLDR
Armored Core 6 is an alright game, but I feel there's too much Dark Souls/Sekiro/Bloodborne into the design of the game that hinders what made Armored Core, Armored Core. I'm sure the recent FromSoftware fans will enjoy this, but as a veteran of the franchise this game just puts a sour taste in my mouth. I'll keep struggling though, so maybe my review will change later on.

I usually don't like to write soundtrack reviews, but I had to specifically for this title:

Unlike most OST sales on Steam, this specific OST includes Both .mp3 and .wav files
They really knew their target audience including optional lossless audio files of the OST.

Other than that, like the music in the game? Buy the OST.

Mostly good.

Best girl finally has a route
An unexpected ally
Toybox Mode is finally available on PC (or did I miss an update memo?)

This DLC took me about 4.5 hours to finish (I was already maxed out on everything beforehand)

I do have 2 complaints, which goes into spoiler territory:

First off,What was that dialog in the middle of the final fight? I was playing Japanese dubbed, and I didn't see any subtitles. (Was I cursed to not understand the dialog because I had Japanese audio on?)

Secondly, and okay, this is more of a nitpick. What was with the choke grabbing animation? Kinda creepy out how many times it was used here.

In summary, this DLC here is worth the content, especially for how old this game is. Any of the other DLC is cosmetic, so use your own discretion if that seems worth it for you.

I'm aware a few people are upset for the developers for labeling this the "True Ending", but let's put it this way: Maybe this is setting up for something?

A great tech demo to demonstrate what is capable with the SteamDeck, as well as a free general game expanding the Portal universe.

As a large avid player of Cities in Motion 2 (A game about creating a public transit system), I wanted something new but I felt intimidated by Transport Fever's main feature of... Transporting cargo around. After a few playthroughs, I figured out ways to make public transportation-only runs profitable.

The game runs very well (a few complaints about the initial load time, but minor ones at that), and I like the flexibility of controlling how trains work via rails and switch tracks.

Over time, the game grew on me, and the mod support is pretty high.

For any transit enthusiast, or someone who just likes watching money accumulate over time, I'd recommend this game.

Logistics.

A Short Hike is a game where you... take a hike.
Reminds me of that one time I went hiking, got lost, and ended up in some golf course. Weird story...

Story
The story starts with you just... appearing at a mountain area so remote, there's no cell phone signal. For some reason, the only place to receive an apparently-important phone call, is at the top of the mountain.
From this point, the player sort-of carves their own story depending on how they decide to get there, and I thought that was a nice touch.

Gameplay
Gameplay is very simple. You can jump, glide, use an item. Throughout the game, you are told to collect "Golden Feathers", which gives you an extra jump, and allow you to climb for longer. There are various npcs to talk to here and there who may give you tips, or ask you for some favors in exchange for rewards. There's also fishing.

Controls
In the controls department, the basic keyboard controls are a bit... retro with no easy way to modify them. I'm used to the WASD keys, so using the arrows on the keyboard were a bit irritating. Thankfully, the game supports xinput controllers very well.

Performance
Obviously, my beastly rig (i9 9820X, 64GB Ram, 2x 1080Ti SLI) had no problems running this game at... 1440p 60fps. I have quite a bit of understanding with Unity, so I can confirm this pixel-ized style is made using a rendering trick on the camera. This camera does not improve performance, but simply gives a stylized look for the game. I am a bit mixed about this. Despite I like the charm of the retro-like graphics, I do understand that there are some players who would like to have the option to turn it off. Regardless, this is my review and I generally like it.

Conclusion
Coming from various AAA titles this holiday season, trying out this game for the first time has rather intrigued me. With the open-world-esque game design it introduces to you, as well as some of the interesting side stories that are scattered around the island. This game has impressed me so much in fact, that I've already gifted copies of this game to my friends who livestream. It's always interesting to see how different people approach the same end goal.

I try to believe in the heart of the cards just as much as the other guy, but when you get Exodia'd by the Rare Hunter on turn 1 for the 5th time in a row, you start to think the game has a grudge against you.

I eventually came to beat him with a custom deck, but enough about that...

Yu-Gi-Oh!
- Yes, it's that magical card game. The one we all probably played in the middle school days, and thought we were cool, and then we had that one kid who thought he was cooler because he actually bought the Duel Disk for it too (Also me).
- The game plays... just like you'd expect from Yugioh, up to the new regulations and mechanics, regardless if you like them or not.

Card Collections
- To obtain cards in this game, they are obtained by Booster packs. Booster packs are first unlocked to be available in the shop, and then you buy it with in-game currency. You get currency from dueling, and you unlock booster packs from defeating specific duelists at least once.
- With this being said, the game can get very grindy to get to that perfect professional deck you want to make (unless you want to throw money at one of the DLC packs). Until you have your own deck, you can only play with the starter deck, or (in story mode's case), the corresponding deck that the duelist in question had at that time in the anime.
- I've noticed some decks with some... surprising cards available. I'm presuming because the actual anime, duels were very short, and obviously we would have never seen most of the cards in their decks anyways.

- Some monsters in particular have special attack animations (As the norm with most Yugioh games these days on "powerful" hardware).

Conclusion
- If you're a die hard Yu-gi-oh fan, and want to re-experience all of the (important) anime moments, I say buy the game. The grind is long, but you should get enough to build a makeshift deck for online play.
- For those used to YgoPro, a popular third party tool that existed before this game that Konami decided to sue for use of their official card images, this game is pretty good, but it lacks some of the extra restrictions you could put in online duels, as well as some anime cards simply do not exist.
- If you're new to the franchise and want to see if this is a good gateway to understanding the game, the tutorial sections in the story will teach you well, but after the first battle of each season, you are on your own to pray to RNG.

It's Snake in 3D. No, I promise it's very entertaining!

Gameplay

So there's not much to really say. It's snake in 3D, but you drive an infinitely-extending accordion bus. You have a jump button to help with the 3D, you unlock more bus types, you unlock more levels. It takes a while to understand the mechanics, but once you understand the mechanics, you start trying to get the highest records of Steam and ask yourself How the hell did people get 900 bus length?

The soundtrack, at first I didn't like it. I felt the game could have used more... upbeat adrenaline-rushing music, but after playing the game for an hour, it started to sink in: You're not driving a car at extremely fast speeds, it's just a bus around a closed-off map. Just take your time, and carefully tread around the map.

Hey devs, got any plans to release the OST for this game? I'm pretty addicted at this point...

Performance

During my playthrough, I... never really paid attention to the framerate. I didn't notice any drops, so I can say I was always higher than 60fps with my i9 9820X, 64GB of Ram, 2x 1080Tis in SLI (Did not check if SLI was actually working). The game was installed on an SSHD where each level took ~7 seconds to load. Quick to load, quick to start playing, and I like that for a small game like this.

Conclusion
This game catered to the inner child in me who has an obsession with busses
Snakeybus is a simple game, but hard to master. I'd say it's worth the $10, and would love to see some extra DLC in the future for this.

Hakoniwa Explorer Plus is an action RPG where you explore the world, and fight various monsters, some of which happen to be strangely arousing monster girls.

Story?
Upon starting the game, you appear in a small house with no recollection of how you got there. You just happen to be in a village that needs people to get "achievements"?
As long as you do things, you get to sleep around for free?

Explore around the world, and find locations to collect various items, fight various enemies, and find secrets.

The game is also stocked full of perverted humor and some hilarious npc/system dialogue.

Mechanics
You can equip a single weapon, a single defensive armor (cloak, or shield of some kind), and a recovery item to use outside of the menu.
When attacking, you use a bit of AP. AP slowly recovers over time.
All items have some kind of durability meter, so unless you use repair kits, they will break.
If I were to compare it to something currently in the market, It feels like a more open Mystery Dungeon-like game, but the dungeons are not randomized.

NPCs in villages can be interacted with by walking up to the front, or the back of them. Walking behind the npc causes you to touch their ass. A very small, but lewd mechanic I have yet to see any gameplay purpose to yet.

Performance
For my overkill system of an Intel i7 7820X, 32GB of Ram, and 2x GTX 1080Tis, this game seems to run pretty well.
This game does seem to be processor intensive, as hinted by the minimum specs. I did notice however, when walking into some areas that initiatea boss fight, there was a slight freeze for the game to finish loading. This does not affect gameplay, as this is while the game is loading, but it can somewhat hinder immersion.

As for graphical options, as this is a pixel-based game, the base launch settings will make the window very small at initial launch. You have theoption of either setting a multiplier to the resolution, or setting the game to fullscreen.

This game is suitable for anyone who appreciates a lewd game that "rewards" you for dying in the weirdest of ways. If you're one to look beyond the lewd nature of the game, there's some very interesting combat mechanics that challenge players into understanding the system.
