While I do not like the dlc policy (and I have most dlc) it still is a great game.
With the random events that can happen it just does not get boring.

So maybe while waiting for CK3 pick up CK2 with the expansions in a sale ^^

So~~~

Everyone here knows what he or she is in to I hope.
The full version is an adult visual novel, this means there is r18 content.

Now, for those that are conserned, the steam version cut out all the r18 content. It is possible to enable the full game on steam if you have the files from the uncut version.

I have played throught the full version, so including the r18 content. Please do keep that in mind while reading the review.

Once again, everyone here knows what he or she is getting in to.
Nekopara Vol. 1 is the first chapter about you, you are making a new start by starting up an patisserie called "La Soleil".
While you are moving you notice 2 extra boxes, seems like some catgirls from home snuck along for the ride!
You start of by wanting to send them back home, but they really do not want to be seperated from you, they plead, they beg and the amount of willpower you can muster start to falter.
They can stay.
and this is the start of your adventure ;)

Now about the game itself.
I really enjoyed the story, I found it well thought out. Vanilla and Chocola have a good back and forth compatability, and while this may be subjective I really liked the way they voiced them. The voices fit really wel, this has also been done for other recurring characters! I would like to note that on auto reading it will take you just a bit less then 6 hours to finish Nekopara Vol. 1

As for the visuals, this is somewhat unlike a normal visual novel.
Normally VN's are like a picture book, the pictures are still and the picture changes when something happens. In Nekopara Vol. 1 small bits and pieces have been animated.
This small addition made it really nice to watch what was unfolding.
The background and overall characterdesign are really well done as well in my honest opinion.

The music was ok, nothing too memorable there but it is good for what it wants to do. I have not had the feeling that it was annoying or anything of the likes in the whole playthrough.

Also there is one thing I want to say about the settings. There is a "Boob bounciness" setting, you can set it from no movement at all to gravity defying so~ This was weird to see in the options, but thank you Sekai Project for implementing!

Last thing, more than once I got a message from my friends that looked something like this:
"What the heck are you playing?!?!?"
So be prepared to be judged by your friends.

Now as for my recommendation, I will recommend Nekopara. I will however say that the r18 version is the one you want.
I will play through the cut version to see what the impact of the cut has on the Steam version.
The art is very nice, I liked the characters, the music wasn't great but it was passable and there is an very interesting settings option.

Now I just want the Steam trading cards and I'm set.
...
...
At least untill they announce Nekopara Vol. 2 :')

It's too short. that is the small version.

I liked the characters and the setting a lot, however since the story was extremely short it just did not get out quite right.
I also found the lack of choices that usually can be found in VN a shame, there is 1(!) choice in the whole game...

the art is pretty all around, from the character designs to the fullarts you get in certain scenes and the backgrounds, all were well done in my opinion. I also liked the background music, never did I find it disrupting and most of the time it was appropriatefor the situation, I did find there wasn't too much different scores...

the dialogue was mostly funny and there were some good moments (not spoiling anything here since... well... it's so short everthing I spoil will be a major spoiler...).

but the "This game includes nudity and explicit sexual dialog." warning you get is well~ barely applicable. there were some moments but nothing really too much.

As for the €10,- price tag, It's a bit much for the amount of time you get to spend with the VN, one run through on auto play will take you around 4h, default settings. if you are a fast reader you'll finish it in half time most likely. I would recommend to buy it in a sale.

I really enjoyed the game, but I wish there was more replayability, the lack of choices and the amount of time you can spend with the game is just too little.
On the other hand, I really enjoyed the art, the music and the dialogue.
In the end I will recommend the game, but I also would recommend to wait untill Sakura Spirit is being discounted for at least 50% or more.
