Love Darktide. Simple as.

Only big criticisms I have of this game as I approach 800 hours is that Fatshark has done a poor job at fixing bugs and creating varied play styles for each of the classes for higher difficulties - e.g. Auric, Havoc. You can feel pretty cornered into only using a few different weapons or builds because they out perform anything else.

Patch 4.0:

-Ammo Crates have limited refills per player.
Why? Ammo is already hard enough to come by.
-Majoris enemies can become enraged and will be more deadly and harder to kill.
Would be cool if this was just a game modifier that could be enabled on any difficulty.
-Armour restores from finishers only if you stay close to your battle-brothers.[b/]
Awful change, ignores the utility of half of all the classes. No idea why anyone on the dev team would think this was a good idea. Again, might be cool as a game modifier you could enable for bonus XP or credits. Game modifiers in general would add a lot more to the game (on all difficulties). This is the worst change by far.

-Melee Archetypes: Fencing weapons' perfect parry window will now have the same duration as balanced weapons but it will start from the first frame of parry animation.
Don't see what the need for this change was at all - maybe buff blocking instead like everyone has been complaining about?

-Basic Auspex Scan: bonus damage on bosses is reduced by 30%.
30% seems pretty high, didn't seem like it was broken at all before to me.

-Melta Charge: damage to bosses is reduced by 70%.
This change just makes me think the devs don't even play their own game. Like, really? It wasn't that highly used before the patch and now I doubt anyone is going to want to touch it at all - its dangerous enough just trying to place it on a boss. Is that not risk vs reward?

-Ruthless: Ammo crates have limited refills per player.
-Ruthless: Player's armour reduced by 20%.
-Substantial: Player's armour reduced by 10%
These all just seem like super cheap ways of making the game aggravatingly difficult. Why not adjust enemy damage and attack patterns instead of changing the core player stats that they have spent prior difficulties getting used to?

-PVP changes
Don't care. PvP feels completely tacked on, no substance.

Love this game but looks like its just going to go in the direction of Helldivers with these poorly thought out nerfs. Why not buff the many bolt weapons that people have been complaining about since launch for being underwhelming? I think I speak for many people when I say I live this game because of the power fantasy you can get while playing as a Space Marine - I live difficult games, but I hate ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Should these changes be revised, I will change my review but right now I can't recommend it if the devs continue to show that they don't care about feedback.

EDIT 2: Game is still unavailable to purchase in most countries. Thumbs down from me until that changes.

EDIT: Sony has reversed their decision and no longer require players to create a PSN account in order to play. Managed democracy guides the way.

Don't normally write reviews but given the recent announcement I'd thought I would make one. The devs/Sony forcing players into linking a PSN account is awful and a terrible decision for an otherwise great game, especially given that the game has already been out for months (in which a PSN account was optional). Many people play in countries that do not support creating a PlayStation account, they say they are looking into alternatives, but c'mon man - its not needed.

Not to mention the devs have seriously been hindering my enjoyment with the game through pointless and awful nerfs that have made many weapons near worthless, which sucks. At this point, I have more or less lost all faith in the game and will be uninstalling. If you are considering this game, know that the core gameplay experience is great but all this other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks.

Incredible atmosphere, realistic yet very fun game play. Heavily communication dependent, a mic is highly recommended for the best experience. Great graphics if you have a good enough system. Can be challenging to find a server to play on. Devs are very committed to improving the game.

The freedom to do whatever you want is nearly infinite and the amount of mods on the workshop is endless.
