The quintessential sandbox game.

I'm a big fan of the first XCOM remake. This sequel does everything right the first one did, and adds much, much more.

I want to love this game, but it is so frustratingly difficult at times that it feels unfair. I love the Metroidvania feel, but I get so tired of traveling the same route over and over again, only to get destroyed by a boss. Then I get to travel that distance all over again. I would recommend this to Metroidvania fans who also like a real challenge.

This is the 2D Metroid-like game that Nintendo refuses to make. If you like 2D action and exploration combined with the trademark Metroidvania style power-ups then this is the game for you.

I would love to review this game properly, but every time I get to the main menu and choose something the game immediately crashes. According to a forum post, I might be able to get it working if I install a bunch of third-party mods, and if I manage to get it working maybe I'll update this review after I get to play the game.
