Are you a fan of harvest moon? If the answer is yes, this game is a very safe bet for ya. Basically a spiritual sucessor to Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley adds it's own unique additions, a very charming pixelart style (that actually is fitting to this sort of game) and an own world that makes you want to explore all of it.

The major strength of the game is the sheir ammount of things you can do. Farming, exploring the mine, building relationships with villagers, fishing, rebuilding the community center and unlocking additional places to go, upgrade items etc. there is always something to do.

Speaking of which, the game gradually unlocks more content, depending on how much time you invest in repairing certain parts of the city or upgrading your items. So the longer you play, the more things you'll have to do.

Now obviously since this is a farming sim, the farming is a pretty big aspect of this game. The game is split in 4 months, each 28 days and each representing a season. Each season has their own crops you can farm so you'll have to do decent planing since crops die out if they are out of season. (I totally didn't mess that up first time and wasted a good 5000g on crops just to see them die) Careful planing and organizing is getting rewarded. You can add sprinklers or upgrade your tools to make farming easier and more automatic if it gets to tiresome for you! This also helps you since watering crops, cutting trees etc. costs energy and you can only do so many things per day before being tired.

You can also add farm animals, which tbh are aren't really that hard to take care of. Feed them and collect your goods from them that's pretty much it. Personally speaking which it would be a little bit more then just that, but it does it job. The game also gives you a little dog/cat, but these aren't really all that useful.

The mine is kinda like a little action RPG Dungeoncrawler where you can go down all the way to get additional ores, items, gems or simply slay monsters for rewards and item drops. The mine has one mine flow: RNG. You can sometimes can get RNGd by it and not find a staircase to the lower level and lose all your energy in one level, or get run over by an army of bats when low on health but that is the nature of this part. Overall it's fun, just sometimes a bit frustrating, in a game that is most of the time the polar opposite on frustrating.

Relationships in this game are pretty important. Trying to make friends rewards you with gifts, given you gift them their favorite things a lot first. You can marry in this game, which grants some benefits. One flaw is that some characters are definitly better written than others. Some repeat themselves quiet often, but there should be atleast one character you find somewhat interesting.

The music in the game is pretty decent aswell! Even tho sometimes i run into situations where no music is playing at all which is a bit of a nitpick but hey.

Stardew Valley is a great relaxing game to spend your time on. If you are a fan of simulation or farming games you'll like this one.
