Early Access Review
It's an Early Access game that doesn't suck.

I didn't know this could happen/10

UPDATE: All snarkiness aside, this game is excellent. I've played it a bit now, and it's fluid, frequently updated by devs that actually care, and generally a fun experience. And this is just the pre-alpha! It's totally worth the $18, and if you can't spare that much, at least grab it on sale. It's worth your time.

Early Access Review
I highly recommend this game! if you're a fan of Rust, Dinosaurs, and/or Minecraft, you'll enjoy Beasts of Prey. Its in early alpha at the moment, but is already very playable, and has potential to be a huge success.

I'll break my review into 4 parts: Interface, sound, graphics, and Gameplay.

Interface: (4/5) The crafting and inventory GUI is intuitave, and relatively easy to use. The main menus need a bit of work, but I'm confident that the team at Octagon Interactive will work them out

Sound: (3/5) All Ambient sounds are varied and dynamic, and project a feeling of a realistic tropical environment, with running water, birds chirping in the trees, and vegetation swaying in the wind. The menu music, is, as it often is in many games, crushingly loud and intense, and could use to be toned down significantly. On the whole, though, the sound effects are well executed.

Graphics: (4/5) Beasts of Prey has graphics that are very pleasing to the eye, while still being at a quality that can be handled by mid-range computers. (I'm personally a fan of semi-low-res graphics, so I'm somewhat biased here) I was impressed by the dynamic lighting in particular, as it's quite advanced for a game this early in development.

Gameplay: (3/5) The gameplay is still in its early stages, so is somewhat difficult to review. The movement and resource gathering is very user-friendly and easy to pick up, and crafting uses a menu in a style similar to Rust. I am yet to experience much by way of combat gameplay, as I have yet to encounter any hostile dinosaurs. One of my only complaints is that the inability to see one's hands while moving makes me lose my bearings occasionally.

Overall I think this is a great alpha game, and look forward to future updates.

Well, there are some other reviews already written for this game. And by "some", I mean "over 4,000". But I still feel the need to tell people exactly how insultingly bad this game is.

Well, first of all, the company itself, Hemmerpoint Interactive. In the making, renaming, bullshiting and general douchebaggery concerning this game, they managed to be so corrupt I almost respect them for it. It takes some real stones to be THAT dishonest to THAT MANY people.

Now, the game itself. The graphics are nothing special, and require way more CPU power to run than they should. This is due to a total lack of optimization that's present throughout this whole game.

The loot spawns are stupidly overpowered, with any player being able to find an assault rifle in a matter of minutes. This means that the zombies are hardly a threat, unless you do something incredibly stupid. So, pvp combat is the main threat to you in this game. However, over half of the playerbase are hackers, so odds are you're screwed.

In conclusion, this game is repetative, enraging, and generally not worth playing. The company that made it doesn't deserve your respect, let alone your money. DO. NOT. BUY. THIS. GAME.

P.S. There is an early access game called The Dead Linger. Its in alpha, but already is far better than this, and it's going to be amazing. I cant recommend it enough.

P.P.S. Microtransactions in a survival game? Really, Hammerpoint? Really??
