If there was ever a game to help guys understand organization/mise-en-place in terms of aesthetics-- this is it.

this review will be short, much like the runtime of the game.

the exit 8 is unsettling in all the right ways: the sound design, and creepiness factor of some of the anomalies definitely startled me on more than one occasion. this game is very much a 'less is more' approach, and i feel like it accomplishes what it set out to do

my only complaint is that it was too short, this complaint has nothing to do with the price tag, which from my understanding is something people are sour about, and understandably so. I would've actually liked to see a few more 'scary' horror elements incorporated-- because the atmosphere, and the general building of tension would've fed into that very well.

definitely interested to see future finished products by this creator

Surgeon Simulator is an initially challenging game; So much so, I would categorise it as a 'rage game'.

However, once you get a grasp on the controls and how your hand & tools exist in 3D space-- there is a certain method to the madness, (however- I admit: There were times I had to look up how to finish a procedure.)

You'll either love it, or hate it, personally- I love it.

I think if Bossa were to create a VR plug for this game, or something similar- I'd be all over it.

It's Interesting?

If I had to describe Goat Simulator, it would be part Tony-Hawks Pro-skater, part quirky rag-doll simulator, and infuriatingly satisfying.

It's interesting to note, that from my personal experience- that my opinion on Goat Simulator gradually evolved as I continued playing it. First, I was drawn in by the sheer ridiculousness of the rag-dolling effects- and spent the better part of a few hours seeing what twisted shapes I could pretzel myself into. Then- as that was getting boring to me: I decided I would explore some of the maps, uncovering the subtle references, and humour peppered throughout the game. Lastly, I went on a mad 100% achievement spree, which was ultimately infuriatingly satisfying to attempt to achieve.

However, where Goat Simulator fails is in replayability- completing the game in it's entirety is a feat, but following that accomplishment- it's just another notch in your belt. But it is worth mentioning that because of the game's difficulty, and amount of content- that is is well worth the money that it's being sold for.

I would recommend the game to those who enjoy quirky indie games, with interesting/unusual mechanics, and references to popular gaming culture. But for a general audience? Probably not. It's a niche title, for sure.

Quick, Clean, Fun!

Loved the concept of Grow Home; As well: The 'do no wrong' gameplay style where exploration, the visuals, and the quirky charm of this mini-world were the focal points of the title.

However, the price of the game, to me- is 'barely passable'. Unfortunately, it feels too short, and simplified to justify spending full price on. As well- there's no replay value whatsoever.

I would recommend this game to any fans of the platforming genre, who are looking for a casual 8 hour time sink.
However, for those who really want their money's worth: Wait until it goes on sale.

Undertale, oh Undertale.. where to begin?

Undertale masterfully coaxes out emotional tension over a large story arch- which sees Frisk encounter many endearing, but naive monsters, each with their individual hopes, dreams, and character flaws. Probably one of the more notable things I enjoyed was Toby's attention to detail concerning the choices of the player. The game doesn't corner you into way of doing things, but instead allows the player's personal morals (or lack-there-of) to steer the course of the story. This was particularly enjoyable to me, because even without knowing about the reprocussions of ending a monster's life- I initially chose to go the pacifist route because it is more befitting to me as a person.

However, where Undertale falls short is all a matter of opinion- and mine stands firmly in that the graphics, and visual style of the game could've been vastly improved. I do understand that Toby, and his team chose to be small to retain more control over development, and the style of the game- but I still feel that the finished product could've been as visually stunning- as it was emotionally flabbergasting.

I would recommend this game on the basis that the person who played it had not heard of it before, and also didn't have any prior knowledge of it's inner-mechanisms. As much as Undertale is an amazing game, that I have personally enjoyed: it's an experience as well, one that is both enchanting, and a test of one's own moral compass.

Evoland 2 had me on the edge of my seat the entire time; It consistently, and flawlessly executed it's various modes of play- and nothing felt too over the top.

I enjoyed the variety, fourth-wall breaking, and often humourous references to the games which inspired this gem of a game. As I mentioned before- nothing felt over the top, and it is the sort of game that you can approach light-heartedly, or from a completionist point of view; Both modes of play are very balanced.

However, some of the qualms I have: The sensitivity of the keys to certain game modes; The learning curb to navigating the world -in particular, if you step away from the game for any length of time: It becomes slightly difficult to find your place again.

I would definitely recommend Evoland 2 to anyone who can appreciate the vast, and colourful history of video games, and the tropes that have emerged from the various genres. It will be enjoyed by casual, and hardcore gamers alike.

Addictive
Road Redemption (RR) is, in a word: addictive.

Fast paced, challenging, and surprisingly well rounded- (despite being early access) RR is a welcome addition to the action-racing genre.

In RR you play as a member of a motorcycle gang, armed to the teeth with various weapons ranging from a Viking axe, to a grenade launcher.

Timing your strikes is key, as well as micromanaging, as you battle both the traffic, and members of opposing gangs in game modes that are both bizarre, and extremely fun to master.

Multiplayer has been promised, and is in the works- and will only serve as a boon to the title's popularity.

If you are a fan of racing, and fast paced combat: Road Redemption is a gaming experience not to be missed.

Also, prepare for a long detailed read.

First of all, understand what Viscera Cleanup Detail is about:
You're a space janitor; You have a mess; You must clean the mess- or you'll be fired.

Seems simple enough, but the devil is in the details- and single detail is this: This game is hard. Based solely on the fact that you cannot meander about doing a bit of one thing, and a bit of another; You have to have a strategy on the order in which you do things. You can, and will spend an hour or two on one level- if you let yourself go that far.

"This sounds like a commitment." I hear you say, and yes! It is- and it has to be one that you find enjoyable in order to truly appreciate the subtle fun that this game has to offer.

*This game is fun, because it offers a challenge that current games lack: Self management, and to an extent- self control.

You will not have some computerized message on-screen to tell you: "Pick up the body parts first" or "Mop a path to the incinerator and bucket dispenser in order to minimize bloody footprints" you learn these things as you go, and you have to be willing to experiment, and keep an open mind in order to succeed.

So, on a closing note- if you like experimenting with processes, as well as organizing yourself in a productive manner- then congratulations! You'll likely enjoy this game a lot!

If you're more the sort who likes to make a mess of things, and loves playing with body parts, and spilling buckets of blood everywhere, then you'll still like the game, but you'll likely get bored of it quicker, and lose friends over playing hockey with an intestine.
