Marketed as an ''AAAA'' game, The Callisto Protocol *looks* expensive, which is pretty cool.

However, so much budget going into the game's visuals means that the gameplay and level designers were left only able to communicate with each through pigeons and letters in bottles. In other words, there's a massive disconnect between how the gameplay works and how the levels were designed because the two clearly weren't made to accommodate one another.

The game isn't in the slightest scary, and you'll likely spend the vast majority outside of combat encounters holding shift and W (besides the obscene amount of sequences where the game forces you to walk at a snail's pace). The writing is also very very disappointing, so as a survival horror title this game ultimately falls flat.

Grab it on sale for $20 if you'd enjoy this kind of gameplay (I personally found the combat quite enjoyable if not a little shallow), but don't bother with the game's full price.
