Very atmospheric walking and 'stumbling across random objects that you need to collect' simulator.

Interesting short game whereas your actions can have dire consequences.

This is the first interactive story that I have played before, and it was very interesting. The story itself is beautifully crafted and the decisions that you have to make can affect the welfare of your party. There are multiple avenues to explore with this game, some lead to a quick completion such as heading straight to the port city after seeking refuge in the pine forest. Whilst others take you on a much more detailed journey such as heading down to the catacombs where you'll get the choice to slaughter your whole party to save yourself.

There are a few grammatical issues and typing errors from time to time, but this doesn't detract away from the overall feel of the game, nor does it make it less enjoyable. It is a simple game for those who enjoy reading, especially the fantasy genre, and would like to indulge in a different type of reading where you're the author of your own consequences.

This won't be for everyone, but don't degrudge yourself of the experience!

Early Access Review
The Forest; brilliant survival game with stunning graphics. It also manages to have me on the edge of my seat throughout gameplay!

I bought the Forest with only these expectations with the game till being in the Alpha stage of the early release:
  • It would be quite clunky to play with difficult keybindings and/or a lot to learn;
  • The game would be riddled with bugs that I'd have to ride out until the game is patched or fully released;
  • The graphics would be decent, but there would be lots of technical glitches i.e. screen tear;
  • The game would be abandonded after a few months like most EA games;
  • BUGS! Bugs everywhere;
  • Very limited game play, or empty content with no true function in the game world.

I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. Yes there have been bugs, which game doesn't hold it's fair share of bugs from time to time. Nevertheless, these bugs haven't been game breaking and have only served as a minor inconvinience. Mainly they allowed players to abuse a situation to their benefit and you'd find players launching logs across the map like they were shooting an adapted AK-47. Bugs are quickly quashed by the devs through regular patches, and I am yet to stumble across a game-breaking bug.

The graphics are beautiful and the dev's have done a tremedous job with creating an eery atmosphere around the game. You're a survivor of a plane crash lost on an island full of cannibals - the night is your worst enemy and the dev's have done a fantastic job of making the night hours absolutely petrifying. The laugh and scream of the cannibals still scares the s&%t out of me and has me running for my feeble log cabin.

The quality and depth of locations is brilliant. There is plenty to do from exploring sprawling caves to stealthily stalking through cannibal infested villages to find special weapons such as the katana or the climbing axe. There has been a huge amount of attention to detail put into this game and it is evident in all area's of the game.

The building mechanics are easy to get used to and you can build some pretty impressive structures. Anything from fortified treehouses to huge sprawling fortresses with walls that go on for miles.

Either way, you'll have a great time playing the Forest, and I for one am looking forward to see what else the dev's can pull out of their hats.

This game caught my attention when I saw it in the local Game store for the Xbox One. After researching online and watching a few broadcasts, I was taken in by the simplistic graphics yet immersive game-play. I bought the game on Steam and the last 30 hours have been a blur.

It can take an hour to get used to the controls and function of the game - ensure you watch a few video's on YouTube to get a hang of the basics, it will save you a tirade of deaths at the hands of zombies and slimes! Then enjoy yourself. Explore; loot; develop your strategy and kill plenty. The depth of detail in this game is insane - it never cease's to surprise me when I stumble upon another bit of content that I wasn't expecting.

10/10 would mine down to the Underworld again.

Atmospheric & intense side-scroller!

I'd been contemplating buying this game for a few weeks until I saw it with 30% off on Humble Bundle. It's a purchase that I really didn't regret. The graphics won't be to everyone's taste, but I thought they were beautiful and fit the game perfectly. There is a great atmosphere to the game and this changes adequately in relation to what is occurring in the game at that moment.
It's a mixture between a side-scrolling shooter and a survival management game. Do you hold onto your medikits for your bleeding passengers, or do you save them for yourself?

Whilst the game is predominately built upon the principle of reaching the final station - which is ultimately your own death at the end of the game , you also have to manage the systems on your train to ensure it runs efficiently and ultimately doesn't reach an inhabitable state that kills your passengers; and purposely organise what little medikits and rations you have between your passengers to ensure they reach the safe area.

I found myself truly immersed in the game throughout the first play through and got rather attached to my wee little train driver!

I'd definitely recommend this game if you fancy something a little bit different, but that involves the implementation of strategy and tactics.

Time for another play through!!

I was confused. There isn't really a tutorial and I found myself wandering around a plot of land; hitting random items; and getting a medical bill everytime I became exhausted...
