TLDR - Don't purchase the story campaign unless it's on sale or you want to figure out what is going on. It's not worth it.

I'll just say this, if you are playing the campaign, the game is serviceable to a point. They story beats work for the most part, but I swear, cutting out a large chunk of time between the intro level and the main campaign felt like the devs ran out of time and rushed the story along. I don't want to spoil much, but the artbook has more appearances of major characters than the in-game world does, so take that information as you will. The fact that this mode is counted as DLC is also dumb when you consider that it's been a Halo staple since day one.

What bothers me is that purchasing the game DOES NOT GIVE YOU ANYTHING outside of a tiny fraction of cosmetics to use in the multiplayer mode. You don't get 1 season of the battle pass, no credits, just a few really easy to miss cosmetics that you forget you even have. Which brings me to my next problem: the modifications to your armor is pretty half-hazard, at best. Like I mentioned before, you don't unlock much in the way of cosmetics due to how few you fine in the base game; plus, it's organized in such a way that you can't really find them to even use. And, to make matters worse, most of those minor unlocks are weapon and armor emblems that you can't really see while actually playing the game. Gating the rest of the cosmetics behind a paywall or battle pass doesn't make sense, especially when you pay for the story mode and don't get anything that really counts towards it.

Also, the added seasons stories, while interesting, don't feel as they matter much since you can't play them at all in the main game or multiplayer. It would be one thing if it were like the story missions for 4/5 for Spartan Ops, but they are glorified scenimatics that are too short to tell you what's going on. Maybe, just maybe, this will be expanded in the future, but I'm seriously doubtful since 2 to 4 player story mode is still not in the game.

An amazing remake of the original game. Love that there's actually a plot this time around too!

Having played a few hours of this, I'm instantly reminded of another similarly setup game by the name of Project Blackout. It's nearly the same, minus it looking prettier and having "actual" soldier skins. All of the items, save for a few, are on a limited time use say at 24 hours or so, then you have to buy more to use anything better than your starting items for each class.

Overall, it's pretty boring and not much goes on in it.
