While this game is far from perfect, it really offers an experience unlike most other multiplayer shooters on the market. A slower paced, tactical large scale shooter, Squad is a harkening back to the early Battlefield games, where teamwork mattered, classes were very clearly defined, and communication was key. In order for a team to succeed in Squad, players must work together to identify how best to attack the enemy. Realism is stressed, but doesn't get in the way of gameplay, which is a breath of fresh air in a large-scale game such as Squad.

To anyone looking to try the game out: Two hours is not enough time to learn how to play Squad. In addition to learning how the different factions weapons behave (yes, weapons are limited by faction in Squad, you can't have an M4 on the Russian team) you must also learn how the game flows and how to recognize what you should be doing with your kit in your Squad. There are over 10 distinct classes in Squad, each with their own unique equipment to use on the battlefield. You must also learn all the communication lingo (Fob, HAB, BTR, BMP, proxy, etc) that refers to structures, vehicles, and tactical manuevers, before you can get the most out of the game.

However, despite the learning curve, there is no reason new players should be scared to play Squad. Start out playing easy to understand roles like Rifleman, Medic, and Automatic Rifleman, and listen to your squad leaders. USE YOUR MICROPHONE! Ask questions! The Squad community is relatively mature and is very welcoming to new players who want to understand the game. What we don't appreciate is players who join and run off on their own without communicating. That kind of behavior will very quickly result in you being kicked from your squad.

Squad is a fantastic game for those who enjoy this sort of gameplay. It isn't perfect, with some bugs, performance issues, and minor annoyances, but it is absolutely the best game of it's kind available on Steam.

This game, like many other "walking simulators" (Firewatch, Dear Esther, Gone Home, Ethan Carter, etc) is not for those who are looking for engaging gameplay. It's just an interactive story. However, If you're into these kinds of games then you know just how pleasant they can be, immersing you in stories.

After finishing Edith Finch, I can honestly say that this game, while interesting, did not end the way I expected. The game plays almost like a mystery, leading up to the solving or reveal of a secret......that never happens. Instead, the game ends in a rather cliche way that left me rather dssatisfied, and with many unanswered questions, the most glaring of which is WHAT IS THE CURSE?? It absolutely infuriated me that the developers didn't at least somewhat answer this question, and instead just leaves the player to believe that the Finches are simply the most extraordinariliy unlucky family ever, doomed to untimely deaths regardless of their choices.

With all that said, if you're thinking about this game, I would recommend one of the many other great games in this genre first.

Also, the story of Gregory is one of the most disturbing things I've ever experienced in all my years of gaming.

Small, short, old-school looking little indie game that has probably one of the best stories in the entire videogame medium.

Sure to make you laugh, surprised, or even shed tears.
