I'm no veteran or anything but this game alone has given me the realization of the pure fear and elevated awareness that urban combat gives you. I thought insurgency gave me that but this? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game really made that and other CQB games into shame.

i love the rally physics in this game after i tried DiRT 3 on my steam deck, this one just feels millions better in my opinion. especially if you try it in VR you're really getting the most bang for your buck out of this game, especially if its on sale.

let me explain...
I started up the game without much knowledge because i haven't played in at least 6 months. Started a character and started looting right away, getting some decent gear and even a car early on. Seemed like it was going well so far, right? right??
wrong. it only got worse.
all of a sudden the engine died, looked at the dash, out of gas. great.
started walking over to a place that seemed like a gas station and found a horde on my way there, I've dealt with this before so i was pretty confident i could sneak on by em. (spoiler: i didn't) made it to the gas station and even better yet i found a jerry can and started to fill it with gas, but then i heard a horrific sound behind me. I quickly turned around to see what was there, perhaps just a single zombie just hanging around the gas station, couldn't be that bad, right?
nope. the horde was appearantly following me from a distance. they were here. seemingly in the double digits at least, couldn't see an end to them. I instantly panicked and got to cover in the gas station, which seemed in decent condition for what it was, and locked the door behind me. i almost instantly hear banging on the door, just what i wanted to hear so i thought i confused them to all go to that one side of the station and i could easily exit through the back and run for it. i made my way swiftly to the back exit of the gas station and i instantly froze in fear. they were surrounding the building... i panicked. with nowhere to go and the doors quickly losing their durability, i went and tried to hide behind the counter. i was actually scared for my life, with an almost endless sea of zombies outside the building, and barely having enough gear on me to kill a group of 10. all of a sudden it went deafenly silent. did the lose interest? i started to have hope they left me alone finally, and got out from behind the counter to check the window. i got up and walked over to the windows but on my way over there, all of a sudden i heard the one sound i wish i never heard... a door broke. i instantly tried to run over to the counter again to hide hoping to god they didn't see me. i went behind the counter again, right as i saw a crowd of zombies start to flow into the building from the back door but the front seemed fine. I felt safe for a moment as i didnt think i was noticed so i stayed as still as i could, but one of them saw me behind the counter somehow. they all instantly turned to me from every corner of the store, and i instantly drew my only weapon on hand, a metal pipe. i started to try to fight them as much as i could, and slowly carving a path towards the door to escape. i kept swinging and going for the door as fast as i could before more zombies broke through, and it seemed like i was making slow but steady progress. i finally made it to the door, with most of the zombies still in the store either knocked down or dead. i went to open the door to finally escape and make a run for it, but as i opened the door i finally saw it. the rest of the horde. i instantly closed the door again and turned back to go through the other exit, as it might be clear now that most of the zombies inside are now dead. i quickly made my way through to the back of the gas station and went to the broken back door and finally made my way out of the gas station, and let out a breath of relief. i stood for a moment, looking back at the station and reflecting on the hell i just went through, letting my guard down for just a moment. all of a sudden a zombie snuck up behind me. a straggler from the horde. i didn't have enough time to react since i had been trying to figure out what just happened, and i got bit. i turned and hit the zombie and killed it as fast as i could, and swiftly went to check my health stats, hoping that the injury was just a scratch or anything but a bite...
infected. i knew i wouldn't live much longer. started thinking of my options at this point, because i knew i didn't have much time left. walking back to base would take too long, and there was nowhere else for me to go. I chose violence. I wasn't just gonna let these things kill me off without a fight, so i readied my weapon and started to go back into the station. The front door has collapsed during the time i was outside, and the place was full of em. i went in and fought with everything i had, killing at least half of them before i was starting to get overwhelmed, but i kept fighting with all that i had. all of a sudden my pipe broke, so i started fighting with my hands, i wasn't giving up now. i kept fighting and fighting, but then everything started getting blurry... this was it. my punches got sluggish and my legs started to give out... then i started to fall, as the endless wave of zombies started to get closer, everything went black...

i spent way too long writing this but yes it is based off a true story, tragic to say the least. thanks for reading this far man, you a real one.

ok so basically just take Ground Branch and slam it into VR.

God I love this game but also hate it because its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrifying bro please help its actually giving me PTSD.
-The gunfire occlusion when you're indoors, and hearing the gunshots echo in such small spaces sounds so loud, and its terrifying, just as it should be.
-The ranged gameplay can use some work in my honest opinion, because with it being optimised for quest the scopes are kind of wacky, but they at least work for the most part. I'm more of a CQC guy anyway.
-The missions are short but sweet, and replayable to hell and back, especially if you have a good squad.
-Communication is key in PvP. Either you call out that you're friendly because you strew away from the team, or stick together and hope that the quest 2 squeaker doesn't teamkill because they ran in front of your line of fire and now theyre pissed.

Overall, PvE is my fav personally, but the PvP is pretty good if you want to witch upgameplay from time to time.
