I bought this game in like 2016 and played it for like 5 minutes thinking it was an unplayable trash heap. Now its a really great game and I would recommend it. A prodigy of early access games.

After completing the tutorial I think I can now post an honest review. This is probably the greatest game I have ever played in my life, and would recommend it to anyone as you can do pretty much whatever play style you want. Want to make a wholesome farming colony to raise animals and sell crops? You can do it. Want to be a pirate colony that raids other settlements for profit? Go for it. Then get the DLCs and take it even further. Then get some mods and take it even further than that. I keep coming back again and again because Rimworld provides a very rewarding feeling that you won't get from other games, you get to watch as a story plays out in front of you in the world you build.

With the positives out of the way, my only major complaint is the performance at the end game. Even before 1.0 in the alpha stages, it was like this. Now with DLCs that encourage you to make long-running colonies, this end-game crashing or stuttering is miserable. I start a colony knowing that no matter what, I won't be able to finish my grand vision for the colony or see the colonists have children and follow the story for generations. It just is the way it is, mods help with performance but its the biggest flaw in this otherwise more-than-perfect game.
