Let me preface this with the fact that I have played all previous Metro titles, I have been looking forward to it since the announcement. However, when it was instead pre-released for a year on Epic Games I wouldn't budge I think that Steam is still really good and that maybe the 88/12 split maybe good I just had to get it here. So first I'm going to be going over the good parts of Exodus and then the more bad parts. Firstly, it was amicably better story wise than most of the other games, often pointing to mysterious objectives, Exodus provides a story over time that builds all the way until the end, this helps make you feel you are invested in small side-quests and eventually in the main questing. Next the Atmosphere, Exodus is formatted in a sort of level system, moving from Moscow, Volga, Caspian, Taiga, Dead City, this style of level design I do enjoy because it sets a fine Juxtaposition from Scene to Scene. Additionally, the open world aspect is a core aspect of the Atmosphere, you can do side-questing or just continue through the main quests, in my case I wiped every bandit camp before I was meant to go there on Volga, this felt off when I realized I didn't have the zip-lining attachment. But other than just having the option for exploration was much better. Alright, last part of the good was the guns and attachments, the guns your given actively encourage you to kit them out to the maximum potential. It also adds situational aspects when you can choose stealth or guns-blazing.

Secondly, the bad parts, picking up where I left off, stealth, its impossible unless you save scum the hell out of your game. Half the time I tried to utilize stealth I was pretty much violated by the fact that the enemies would just instantly find out where I was and alert all other enemies in the area. So saving during stealth is important. Next was that collision, multiple times during the game I saw characters phase through each other, what the ♥♥♥♥, when this story wants to act serious it fails to do so when characters are literally no-clipping into each other. Similarly, during the Caspian level where you rescue the slaves from the boat, I got lost and was looking for a way to the top of the boat when I tried to jump on a huge metal container and it was literally holo. I could go inside it and look out at anything I wanted. This is really bad considering this game has been out for more than a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ year and you can't make a container right. Overall, I've heard a couple of times that the whole outcome of the story has to do with weather you kill or spare people in these levels this isn't made crazy clear but it does have subtle reminders with usually the guide of the level saying don't kill them. And honestly this would be cohesive part of the game if you didn't have to stealth to knock them out. I would rate this game a 85/100 but still recommend, it was 20 hours well spent I and I hope to replay to get the ending that I deserve.
