I used to really like this game but it has become an overdeveloped mess that is unrecognizable from what I enjoyed a couple years ago.

Many of the DLCs are contradictory, with features that break the game, were completely forgotten about but hyped years ago. But the AI is an incredibly powerful computer that knows how to get every buff in the game, will instantly spawn units when they are on the brink of capitulation, and don't even get me started on the TERRIBLE naval and peace conference systems. Your manpower will often get drained to unplayable levels so you're forced to take the worst Land Doctrines just to have a military. True you can use puppets.

Game is best modded and in multiplayer.

Early Access Review
An incredibly deep game with a massive learning curve. I would suggest reading the in-game manuals or watching YouTube videos to learn game mechanics, otherwise you will probably not be satisfied because there are minimal tutorials.

Cheating bots have taken over the game. Devs also don't update the game anymore. The only people who still play are mostly dedicated players.

You won't enjoy it much as a new player, compared to a few years ago.

An interesting game involving the navigation of the political hierarchy, judicial duties, and schemes based upon intrigue and plots written on the pretexts of peak of the French Revolution.

Story - 7.5/10 I feel like some of the storytelling techniques were cheap, and instead of twisting the story based on previous decisions, it's a twist that comes of nowhere and really only facilitates chaos. However, it did tell a good story, however once you realize your choices have no impact, it is quite disheartening.
Gameplay - 6.5/10 Mostly point-and-click decision-making based on the consequences of your immediate actions. Extremely varied.
Acting - 6/10The cutscenes were very nice, but I really think that with a total voicecast, at least for all important characters, would have truly rounded it all together, and some things should have been voiced.

Verdict?
6.5/10 Buy on sale.

I have not enjoyed a single round I have played in my two hours. I have managed to get, like, no more than twenty kills, which I found reasonable, but it has been nothing but getting ganged-up, shot-at, or simply killed by people with more reach. I feel like all the weapons I start with are so overwhelmingly slow, that I can actually make so few manuevers it's pitiful. You also move like a slug even without armor, and your camera isn't much better.

I couldn't get a single duel due to the matchmaking times, and the servers that had players were just populated by people who had thousands of hours, leaving me with no opportunity to even get what I felt like was an even match. I was actually excited to play this game based on the trailers, and have enjoyed other slower action games, like Fistful of Frags or Chivalry, but this is just slow to an annoying degree. I will be refunding the game and never returning.

This is the best modern Fallout game. There is simply no contest, it honestly is. The odd part, it was not developed by Bethesda, but by Obsidian - a company created out of the ashes of Interplay and headed by many of the original developers of the first two Fallout games. In spite of this, you would think that the game would regress more back to its natural state of the originals, but that's more than further from the truth. However, there are some large mechanical differences between this game and Fallout 3, these being:
-Speech checks are not percentage based, and are simply successful if you reach the desired skill check.
-Iron sights have been added, but can be toggled-off for a more Fallout 3 like experience.
-The max level cap is now 30 without DLC, instead of 20. If you purchase all DLC, (excluding the Courier's Pack and the Gun Runners' Arsenal,) the level cap will be 50.
-Guns can have modifications now, these are either found, or bought from vendors.
-A "Hardcore" mode has been added. This can either be turned-on at the start of a new game, or in the options menu. You need to eat, drink and sleep in this mode, and some say a cool reward awaits for those who beat the whole game in hardcore...
-Bobbleheads have been removed.
-And many, many more!

I like to imagine most of these changes were grounded in what Fallout was supposed to be, and since the original developers worked on this game, it's hard to say otherwise. Either way,Obsidian took every good thing from Fallout 3, and amplified it:
-Compelling story that gives you ample opportunities to change the wasteland forever? ✓
-Large map chock-filled with interesting locations and NPCs?✓
-Entertaining quests with unexpected twists, consequences, and good rewards?✓
-Companions with tear-jerking backstories?
-Customizable sandbox experience with hundreds of ways to build your character?✓
-Minute details you'll finally discover on your tenth playthrough?✓
-Best DLCs in the Fallout franchise?✓
-Easily moddable?✓

These are just the surface reasons as to why this game is amazing. I could expand on each one of them for hours, but why should I tell you when you can find out for yourself? You will not regret it, I can genuinely say this game is for just about anyone. I still come back to this game year after year, and despite the fact I've played every ending, beaten every DLC, interacted with every faction, killed every legendary enemy, I just hear this tiny voice in the back of my head, "How about we do it a little differently this time?" And you know what, I do. If I could give this game and ultra-recommendation, I would, but I think a 9/10 will do nicely. Why a 9/10 you ask? Well, this game is very buggy. You will face moments where sometimes things just won't work, so do save often, and save manually, because quicksaves get overwritten on a new quicksave.

Tips:
-Save often, quicksave even more often.
-Do not watch anybody play this game, or look up anything unless it is crucial on your first playthrough. A blind experience when playing this game is magical, and I would give up many things in my life now to get the feeling of playing this game for the first time again.
-Try to stick with every decision you make on your first playthrough, save-scumming can be rewarding, but often detracts from the fun.
-Consider installing mods that will fix stuttering, and bugs.
-Buy the DLC. Gun Runners' Arsenal is not crucial, but does add new weapons and challenges, and Courier's Stash simply gives you extra stuff when starting; it is the least-crucial of the DLCs.

All-in-all, BUY THIS GAME! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

Unforgiving, challenging, and amazingly fun, you'll love it.

Play with a controller, is my advice.

Utterly fantastic game, but nobody besides seasoned vets play the game.

It's not the game's fault, it's just old.

Expect to die despite slim margins, or to you, none. Expect to be killed in places that you will have to squint to see because these players have found all the ninnies and cracks.
