It covers some very traumatic topics, definitely only play if you can handle depictions of childhood abuse, violence, self-defense, and death. Otherwise, very very good game.

The game, and all the chapter DLCs, were free when I got it (June 2025).

I had fun, and it's lovely to see a game representing trans, autistic, ADHD, demiromantic people like me (I am an asexual demiromantic neurodivergent trans woman who is bi but attracted to guys / masc gender people like 80% of the time over other people).

Lack of choices
That said, there were certainly some things which made it more difficult for me to enjoy the game. Without giving spoilers, generally all of those issues come from not having enough choices. I understand that you are playing a character, it's not just yourself inserted into the game (though that would also be nice), but it feels like the only real choice that matters in the game is which of the three people you choose to spend time with. Everything else seemed pretty much written in without a way to change what happens or what your character does.

Liam (spoilers)
I did not choose to spend time with Liam, but his presence even without that put me so close to quitting before much of the game had even happened. He is totally insufferable. The fact that your character is forced to be attracted to him and follows him online is what made me upset enough to almost quit then and there.
The whole influencer guy with a big ego and being a little bit of a ♥♥♥♥? I'm okay with that, not who I would prefer to have in the story, but I can live with that. But him bullying people, teasing people, being nasty, that feels like too much to me and brings back bad memories.
Him hating on cis people and straight people I also can't stand, but perhaps I could live with it in the game if it weren't for the bullying. As LGBTQ+ people we are a community, that community includes cis people, that community includes straight people who are trans or on the asexual or aromantic spectrums. I've been made to feel hated and unwelcome not just in allocishet communities but also LGBTQ+ ones, made to feel ashamed for being mainly attracted to guys as a woman. I know cis and trans guys also get similar in many spaces for being guys. There's nothing inherently wrong with being cis, straight, or a guy.

Other choices (Angel spoilers)
There are also other choices that I wish you had control over. I don't drink, I don't really want to be forced to drink alcohol. I'm also asexual, I don't want to be forced to attempt to have sex. It felt so bad with Angel, xem getting upset because I was drunkenly trying to have sex with xem, but that's not at all what I wanted, not at all something I'd want to do. I'm autistic, have ADHD, am asexual (could try it but only after many many months being very close with someone) and demiromantic like xem, and I don't drink. It seems like what I wanted and what Angel wanted are the same, but the game forced me to be in a situation that I would be upset about just as much as Angel was.

Overall thoughts / recommendation
Don't get me wrong, I did overall really enjoy this game. The art is beautiful, the characters feel like they could exist in real life, the representation is great. I do recommend that anyone who is attracted to masc gender people and okay with playing as an allocishet woman play this game, especially if you are trans or otherwise represented by this game.

It's also free! I do think the developers should be earning money off this game, but given the short playtime (1.6 hours for me to finish the game with one chosen person, not going particularly fast) maybe it is reasonable for it to at least not cost very much, like US$2 perhaps.

The career mode is really punishing with how difficult it is to earn money. One crash and you can't fly your own plane, meaning it takes about 6 hours of employer missions to be able to afford to finish repairing the plane, let alone ever having a chance of affording a plane other than a Cessna 172 that you actually want to fly.

Very fun with a wheel. I do wish they'd do a UK revamp, some of the cities in Germany look more like my home city of Swansea than Swansea itself does in the game.

Very enjoyable singleplayer game with one of the best written stories and one of the best written characters of all time. But it is also the result of a culture of crunch and bad treatment of developers by Rockstar Games, so keep that in mind.

Early Access Review
To be honest, I expected this to be a mediocre 30 minute experience, but it really blew me away. This game is incredibly polished for its simple concept, and is a really chill game that is very fun to sit back, relax, and play. I highly recommend.

Going into this game, I honestly didn't expect to enjoy it - I don't even know why I bought it. But after playing No Man's Sky: it's incredible. Truly amazing. It's so fun to explore the universe with or without friends!
