We have made a campain for freedom and we have won! Therefore here is my honnest Helldivers 2 review :

This game makes me loves FPS a genra I'm not found nor good at nowadays. It brings unity, goofyness and all the emotions that came with games such as Left 4 Dead or even Magicka (same devs) while tying it all with a rather dystopian and engaging background story and universe.

The gameplay is nervous, fresh and inventive. It makes you reward when you go on your own way with stratagems and weapons that you took the time to master.

The community is fun, laid back and full of memes. As seen with the recent devloppements, bands and backs up eachother.

The game as service model here is not at all aimed toward milking players of their hard earned money but rather at expending on the story, on the on-going war.

So rewarding, so fun and pretty. Really what an astonishing game!

I wanted to leave a good review on this game but turns out I cannot play it comfortably enough. Unsurprisingly my PC has a hard time handling it. My computer is now around nine years old and have a 1070 GPU since a while in there. I was expecting not to play it on ultra nor even on medium or any sorts of presets. I don't mind turning all the graphics to low, or any options to off but still only getting 20FPS at best in game, having the display of my computer constantly reset (both screens turns black for a second or two) is just too disruptive. They knew the game wasn't up to standars or well optimised they apologized in advance. But instead of delaying they released it anyway, that is not an ethically good pratice. I cannot abide for that. Still debating if I should refund it, it is surely going to be a good game at some point but for now I cannot advise to buy it.

I'd try to be concise and brief but I can only be short of breath when thinking of Walkabout Mini Golf. I can say handsdown it is the most straightfoward fun I've ever had on VR. Consistant kind of pleasure, only sublimed with friends. The game is pushing what is possible graphically to be appealing while remaining light enough for other VR headsets less capables. Their goal being that you can play with friends cross VR headsets and platforms.

Despite doing that trade of it pays off as they make the most of what they have and every maps either being the base game ones or the DLCs ones are crafted with love, care and passion. What makes Walkabout so fun, you might ask? Well simply put, the gameplay is solid. You put the ball, 9/10 times it goes where you'd expect it to, with realistic physics and behavior. While the gameplay work, as mentionned every map is an experience on itself, they all have something to bring to the table.

Either it be atmosphere, compelling story or paying hommage to licensed titles or simply to concepts, ideas, eras, etc, all those maps are precious. Some adds funky or fresh gamplay ideas that wouldn't be doable on real mini golf course. Others are more classic but their settings is so delightful it beats any of those IRL venues easily.

As said, playing with friends is a blast. You can do so up to 8 players, chat vocally, have custom avatars in game etc. You can let your friend play on DLCs maps that you bought without them needing them, so few devloppers care about players experience not to force purchase, just for that they'd all deserve a medal.

Each maps carry 18 hidden balls, their design is various and sure anyone can at least find one pleasing their specific tastes. Apart from cosmetic, collecting those balls end up unlocking harder (sometimes reworked admirably) hard modes of those maps. In addition to being a whole new 18 holes to discover, you get those fun and challenging puzzle-like treasure hunts to find and unlock new clubs.

TLDR : I'm limited in my english vocabulary to translate my feelings when it comes to this VR pearl title. So I'll use a word that define it very well both in English and French : Sublime. <3

You can purchase this title with closed eyes

I really wanted it to work, I wished it deeply but in the end...

I don't even know where to begin. Of course my computer isn't a true gem, with a 660m and 8go of RAM, but I tough it met all the required needs to run smoothly. I had to put the game at low, and even then 30-20 FPS max... I was really dissapointed, it was still playable but enjoyable less...

Now more about the game and the gameplay itself. You take RCT3 and you reskin it, even with less fun than RCT3 and you get that game. It's realllly unfinished, but even for an early access not only it lacked of content but you can feel the strugglings of brillant and less brillant ideas that the different stages of this game developpement had to pass by. The HUD is decent but not all the menus are clear. The statistics are really neat but in the end rather unexploited. There was many bugs with the pathway system, and quite frankly it became frustrating and boring to fight with the game itself.

Not that it lacked of great idea but the feeling of testing and indev version of the game made me regret my hopes and seeks for nostalgia as well as refunding the game. Honnestly, maybe in a year it will be worth some money but not yet.
