Feels like a lackluster addition to the series. The game is buggy, has some pretty terrible writing and relies too heavy on side quests or fetch quests to bulk the game out.

To begin; the side quests seem to only be available to complete in the hub (U-Boat) which is, coincidentally, the place you will spend the least amount of time in the game. Even in between missions, you will often be immediately taken to the next mission without any down time. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it keeps the flow of the game going, but does offer less time to complete some of the optional things. As I'm sure you may have guessed, these side missions tend to not be very interesting and, surprisingly, often gave no reward.

As for the bugs, there were occasions where my character seemed to do very little or no damage to some of the larger enemies and there were a lot of inconsistencies as to what you could and could not mantle or simply walk up, in terms of terrain. I had a lot of trouble accessing certain vents and areas that you are required to traverse. These may be small "irks" but they really had an impact on the whole experience.

Lastly, the writing seems to have taken a turn for the worst. In this instalment, there seems to be more of a focus on "comedic" writing and slapstick humour. It felt very out of character for a game that is set in such a dark and gritty environment. A lot of cut-scenes and featured dialogue I felt was ruined by this new style of writing when more time could have been used to expand on the world and add interesting lore. Speaking of cut-scenes, there are a lot of them and this new approach to story telling makes them pretty undesirable.

All this being said, when it comes time to killing Nazis, it's more or less just the same as the others. If you really want to play more Wolfenstein, then maybe this game is for you. All I would say is; curb your expectations.

TLDR; The weakest entry into the series but does the job. I wouldn't pay full price.

Early Access Review
How has this game got positive reviews with a game breaking bug that is yet to be fixed? Basically, my world was deleted and replaced with a previous version. I have tried everything to undo this and get back to where I was but the next time I loaded it up it did the same thing. This is unforgivable. Do not buy this game until they fix this. Imagine making an RPG with building mechanics and not including a working save function.

Hunt Showdown is a game that combines PvP and PvE to make a unique gameplay experience. This, coupled with satisfying, weighty gun-play, makes for a enjoyable time. This is not your typical "battle-royale", in fact it would very misleading to identify it as such. Its still fairly new but feels, generally, really polished and the devs are adding new content regularly. Would recommend as a solo experience or a co-op experience with up to 3 player support.
