Early Access Review
I'm not sure if I should recommend this game or not, but I decided on clicking recommended because I've had my money worth of fun from this game

The Forest is a game with extreme potential, no matter if you enjoy the constant terror and paranoia the random nature of intelligent, unpredictable Artificial Intelligence, or if you prefer to just have a calm experience alone in a huge forest without anything else than yourself and other animals (type "veganmode" on the main screen to enable this).

The game is in early acces and isn't complete at all! As stated here, on this page by the developers
"Currently there will be bugs, locked off content, missing features and other possibly serious game breaking issues.

Please only purchase the game during this stage if you want to help support development and provide feedback and suggestions to the team."

With that out of the way, let's get back on track, and talk about the game, REMEMBER! EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE, THIS IS EARLY ACCESS!

Starting with the negative side of things

The game is pretty badly optimized for AMD GPU's, I don't know how the game runs for people that are using Nvidea cards, but for the people using AMD, it's badly optimized! I have an R9 290X, which is a beast of a card, but still I don't get more than a maximum of 40-45 frames per second, which is worse than how Star Citizen (still pre-alpha) is performing, and while this game might look good, it's not even remotely close to being anywhere near Star Citizen.

Neither does this game have good texture quality and texture resolution. It's acceptable yes, but nothing more than acceptable.

The key customization needs to happen outside of the game, in a really confusing Unity control panel, which is a big minus. The mouse sensitivity feels like it's 100% of most games when it's at its lowest, rendering this completely unplayable for me if I don't change the sensitivity in the control panel, which is something I prefer not to do.

Another big minus is how little the developers are communicating, the only time I see the developers posting anything are when the updates come out. So the communication is far from good.

Also, bugs, loads of bugs, glitches and gamebreaking issues.

With that out of the way, let's end on a more positive note!

The shading in the game is generally pretty good, with the exception of a few lighting glitches and a bit of problems with the water rendering.

The updates hit around 1 time a month, as long as there is nothing that really break the game, in which case they quickly step in and fix it, which is good, and also prooves that even though they're not active, they're at least listening.

Another great feature is the addition of the 'survival guide', which makes it so that people who are into immersion, so you won't have to exit the game and go onto a webpage or something to find out how to make something, and they're expanding upon this concept.

And that about wraps it up, so what do I think of this far (EU date: 21/10/2014, US date: 10/21/2014)? And should you buy it, or should you wait on buying in? I would say that if you're not very patient, or can get angry if you die because of a glitch or bug, then hold off of buying this game at the moment, and wait for furhter update or the release of the game. But, if you're patient and wanting to support the development of this game, go for it!

This is basically Age Of Empires II, only with widescreen support. The model quality is not improved much at all, the animations are still exactly the same as AoF 2 and the AI haven't seen any change. The video and audio options are very limited, for example: you can't even change the resolution. The graphical enhancement is talking on it's own, as almost everything in the Steam workshop is graphical enhancements. The main menu is identical to the previous one in every way, it doesn't even look as if it has a resolution scale of 16:9, feels more like it's 4:3. All this aside, it's still a very good game, and if you liked the original, you will like this game!

I would recomend this game, but don't go into this game expecting very good graphics, because then you will get disappointed.
