This game truly manages to immerse you in the world of the backrooms without the need of le scary monster chasing you, it gives you that feeling of loneliness that is hard to reproduce while traversing the absurd but amazing liminal spaces

The cutscene animations are great but its obvious that the bust drawings and the animations were done in totally different art styles, not that either of them are bad but its really noticeable.

The story is ok, I liked the idea and I can see the heavy Ib inspiration, which takes a bit out of the originality stand point, but its different enough to differentiate between the two.

Storytelling isn't all that great, for example, our main character Ann: who speaks at the beginning of the game and then goes silent for the rest of the game except the npc's can read her thoughts or something since they understand everything Ann does, seeing them answer to basically nothing did confuse me at first but I guess I got used to it. The horror element starts to get lost when the scares repeat themselves, writing lacked when trying to convey feelings and the lack of sound effects or wrong use of SE/BGM, like the very happy song where the props attack you towards the end, were really immersion breakers.

Now, about the gameplay:
In total I took 1.9 hours to complete the game and its endings, which seems like a short but reasonable time, but I can say with confidence that at least half an hour was spent on the trial and error in the chase scenes/surprise deaths/repeated dodging and basically the bullet hell it can be, this was really annoying and the repetition made it feel boring at parts, like the hide and seek part where you have to do the same thing 4 times. There were also some not very complicated mazes that didn't add much to the game but hey, they were there.

In conclusion: Ann doesn't bring anything new to the RPG maker horror scene, but that does mean it can't be enjoyable, and while it may have its flaws, it was fun to see the plot advance and watch those sick animated cutscenes.

Cool killers, nice gameplay

Really fun game, hard puzzles, good soundtrack, and amazing design. Short but worth it, 10/10.
