Very cute game but it hurts to play.

It takes far too much clicking to get to where you can automate things. There's also just so much going on with keeping track of recipes and table space management. Way too much time was spent decluttering or looking up recipes, especially when it came time to create items to trade to the storehouse for upgrades.

Played for about an hour and, not joking, I am experiencing RSI in my right arm now which hasn't happened in a very long time.

Really enjoyed this game. Super chill and great music, unless s*** hits the fan but that's part of the game. I liked the storyline and the way it worked into providing training for the ships. I'd love to see a DLC regarding AI and ghost ships. Most of my hours come from early access, and I skipped the last major update since things would be reset again, so playing the full story was about 20 hours of my 160 hours played currently since I already new how to basically do everything. I still have an itch to play it and did the Cutter's race which is a timed salvage with specific objectives that is ranked and I'll probably do that again from time to time. I highly recommend this game if you enjoy working on how to do things quickly and efficiently and don't mind things being repetitive.

As to glitches, my husband didn't run into any and I only had 1 - I couldn't interact with the sales kiosk until I changed my cutter. Overall, it was much less glitchier than early access. And my glitch only happened once in 20+ hours.

I've really enjoyed this game, my hours are not entirely representative as I played the demo for like 20 hours on the experimental branch. For me, this game is all about exploring with the terraforming being secondary. When I played WoW, my favorite part was just wandering the map and exploring places, especially places where it didn't seem like I was expected to be and this captures that feeling. Like in WoW, that does mean occasionally falling through the world and getting stuck, but that's fine with me. It's a barren world when you start, and there are no mobs etc. but the ambiance is really amazing. It's still pretty freaky, but also quite beautiful, especially say a meteor storm during full moon. The terraforming is gradual, so its really satisfying to look around and see the small changes, or not go back somewhere for awhile and its just like omg that's not what it looked like. Also, the first thing I do when I play most games is turn off the music (Tropico is basically the only other game I keep the music playing) but I love the music/sound in this game, it really contributes to the ambiance. Ideally, I think this game would be best as a VR where you could get super immersed. This is not a game you play to finish, I very much give myself small objectives and things to do, but mostly its just a really chill experience. I don't usually play games labeled as walking simulators, because honestly, the concept has always seemed boring, but I could see this possibly being described that way, though the terraforming aspect provides non-time based objectives and a goal that keep it interesting for some one like me. I honestly felt like my time in demo was worth the low price, let alone now, even if it is early access it's more than been worth the price in entertainment value - and I can't wait to see more. Looking forward to being able to mod it maybe, there's a lot of room for variety I think.

Updated review:

I like this game (look at my hours), but I wouldn't recommend buying it right now because the big patch awhile ago for Royal Court really futzed things up. And now they've pushed an update like 2 days ago that has led to more bugs and issues with performance and I have no idea what its fixed. And the problem with such a complicated game like this, is it can even be hard to prove how things are broken, just that things aren't working the same or that things are happening that didn't happen before or in ways they didn't work before.

I've previously said: Don't buy now, wait for fixes - but it's not looking good.

Really disappointed because I really enjoy the actual game even with just base game and no DLC. If you can play knowing you may lose a save to an update or get really aggravated by things working wonkily, grab it next time its on sale, but it much less polished than it was before Royal Court.

I love management games and this is definitely scratching the itch in a way that hasn't really been done in awhile. It looks like I've played a large chunk of the current content in the 20 hours I've played, and while there seems to be more to come, I can say I'm more than happy with what I've already gotten out of this game for the price. There are bugs and balance issues, but its still really fun and what I enjoy, and I really appreciate the well setup bug/feedback reporting in the game.

Don't bother right now, constant connection errors and games dropping people. Give it a few days probably.

Played 5 games: tail game, obstacle course, egg gather, seesaws and door game.

Definitely agree with others that team game, egg gather, was just tedious. The other games I think would be fun if it felt like it was more than just luck, but for the most part it just feels like a lot of getting pushed around without much I can do. Seesaw was probably my favorite in that it felt the most like I was in control, but I still wasn't having that much fun.

Maybe it'll be better once the servers settle, but right now it's looking like a likely refund.

Awesome game, especially for the price. My main complaint is that I wish I could pay more money for a more in depth game.

One of the most awesome city-building sims ever, 2nd only to Pharaoh. And like Pharaoh its a series I've been playting for almost a decade and that I keep going back to and playing when I get bored with newer games.
