Xcom 2 is not a game for those who like a good challenge.. Xcom 2 is a game made for those who find pleasure in punishment. I would have to say I'm fairly new to the series, barely played "xcom enemy unknown" and never touched any of the originals."Xenonauts" was the first taste I had of the whole alien invasion/squad building genre and I quickly fell in love. For those of you who have played both games understand that the games fall under the same concepts but they both have their focuses on what makes engaging gameplay. XCOM 2 delivers an intense, atmoshperic campaign that's constantly trying to evolve and throw new challenges and enemies at you.. Now I'm not going to sit here and tell you xcom 2 is a game without flaws cause that's simply not the case and there are a few things about the base game that kinda fall short.. for example the freedom that you have with squad customazation and preperation is not as in depth as you would like it and can seem dumbed down.. and there is not much tactical diversity within the four soilder classes you get to work with. I find myself still wanting a more engaging world map experience that demands me to make critical choices that change the entirety of my playthrough and unfortunantly vanilla xcom does not feel like that.. The good news is there are good mods for the game (Long War 2) that fill in those lacking features so you can easily overcome the short tactical ceiling xcom 2 has. Now i'm the kind of gamer that likes to play his video games like a child would play with legos or action figures.. I roleplay every move and build stories and background behind every character (at least the cool looking ones) I create and this makes for a very fun and rich solo playthough especially given the fact I can customize my soldiers to fit the certain backgrounds and personalities I give them and can change them whenever I feel they need to evolve in character (new scars, new tat, change in personality, etc). I have quicly fallen in love with this series mainly for the squad building aspect and the atmosphere it delivers with it.. and cause I also love me some science fiction. I would say if you are the kind of person who enjoys being punished when you play games then this is your game.. and for those of you who have a short temper be warned, this game was designed to piss you off and make you suffer. If you are not sure about this game and want something that is a little more tactically demanding to dip your toes into I would say try out "xenonauts" first.. and if you need something prettier to look at than a 16 bit game then move on to this and suffer with the rest of us ;)

Early Access Review
Really enjoyed the first killing floor and have countless hours loged on the game but killing floor 2 is a diffrent story. The new zeds are not too bad and the game looks great but the guns are just not what they used to be. Killing floor has always been known to me as one of the best feeling and sounding fps I know.. the animations and how the guns felt was great and the dark tone and atmosphere the game delivered made playing it that much more intense and fun. Killing floor 2 lacks that darker tone.. the game just looks too colorful and lively, you don't really get the grimey post apoch feel when playing.. you kind of just more feel like it's a round based shooter with fancy colors, pretty lights, and a bunch of bs extras added on... and I mean the game IS a round based shooter but what kf1 did so well is made it feel like you were really trying to survive and fight for your life in all out chaos.. kf2 just feels like an arcade game.. I honestly can handle the cheesy looking fleshpound and all the mediocre looking zeds but what I don't unbderstand is why the game sounds terrible. Kf1 was by far one of the best sounding fps I have played and the gun sounds just really made it feel like you were handling a powerful weapon, but now in kf2 is just feels like i'm playing with airsoft guns.. witch I'm sure you can tell is not a good deal. Love tripwire and the games they make but before I find myself ever playing this again they need to make a serious weapons audio overhaul.
