This review is being written as I sit in a queue to enter the server I chose (chose low pop on day of launch).

Quick and Easy™ review :

Pro's:
Great looking game
Crafting feels great so far
Gathering can feel a bit mundane but it is still fun
Housing is decent
Overall gameplay is fun
Not an advanced battle system so pretty everyone can get used to it
The large scale PVP is great

Con's:
Movement can be glitchy at times
Servers (thus far) hold only 2k players each
PVP weapon balance still needs a little work
Mob AI can sometimes keep you in a corner with no way out
Gathering is first come first served
For PVE players, the governor system can be frustrating in regards to taxes
You normally outlevel the crafting stations capabilities (CAN mine gold but smelter needs to be tier 4 to smelt gold and usually is not)
Unless you have a fairly modern or beefy PC this game will stress your system

For the majority of the game it is VERY playable and enjoyable. I play mostly PVE but PVP when I feel the desire.

Is the game worth the price in its current state:
Most definitely

I have no estimate as to how long it will take a player to get to max level but as of this review I would say 30%-40% of my server population is at or above level 35 on the third day after launch.

Get the game, you won't regret it.

Early Access Review
*EDIT*

After playing the game for approximately 1500 HRS I can confidently say that the game IS very playable and enjoyable for a time. its a fun survival game much like ARK but more focus is on boats and exploration and less on animals. the sailing is fairly enjoyable and exploration is fun. realistically you could get between 200-500 hours of playtime before hitting a wall. After this you are just doing upkeep (feeding animals, breeding, fertilizing and harvesting crops, etc). having a big company can be enjoyable but you will hit the same wall even faster. The only downside to the game would be that it forces you to play to keep your accomplishments and hard work. build a base, gotta log in every 10 days. own an island, gotta farm gold and pay for it. All in all I recommend this game if the price is right. full price is still worth grabbing and playing, but if it's on sale, I say snag it and give it a shot. Read on for my initial review at launch.

I will preface this review saying that I am not recommending this game in its current state.

having said that, I think this game has a ton of potential but I wouldn't touch it for another year. there are so many game breaking bugs and patches that I have 9 hours on record in steam for this game and all the work I did was wiped out because I logged out for less than 24 hours. I had crafted my first raft and had one locker full of the things I needed to set sail and after all that I thought to myself "I'll get some sleep before trying this sailing thing tomorrow". logged in approximately 13 hours later and I am in the middle of the ocean with no raft in sight. I think to myself "I'll just die and respawn at my bed". NOPE........ no bed, no raft, no materials I farmned 4-6 hours for (give or take). if you are an ark vetran or think that this game looks cool, it will only be worth it when there is more documentation for it and when the developer gets their collective S&!T toghether and fixes the servers to be the way they advertised them to be. in its current state it is moderately playable. you can discover how to play the first 3% of the game and if you get past that, all bets are off. there is no wiki, no help, a forum with minor posts about how terrible this game is. if you like being an alpha tester for a developer and have to PAY to do it then this game is for you.
