I want to start this review by saying I have put over 2k hours into POE 1 and I started playing it during it's original beta.

I LOVE POE 2. It feels like the fresh successor to POE 1 that I feel like I have been wanting for years now. New systems, fresh campaign, game play that feels different, and overall fun to play.

POE 2 is a wonderfully made game. There are not too many game breaking bugs, crashes (that I have experienced), or things that just feel unfinished from the perspective of a complete piece of software.

That being said, there is quite a bit of work that could be done on the game's systems themselves. The campaign is fun and rewarding and the new gem system feels polished within the constraints of the campaign. Upgrades feel meaningful during the campaign if not necessary at times. I do feel like the power creep of the campaign and the player characters isn't matched will in Act 2 normal, but with some patience and light grinding is mitigated from a player perspective.

The end game feels a bit confusing, even as a long time POE 1 player. You are thrust into maps with little information and many mechanics that feel familiar to POE 1, but are just different enough to require re learning. Some may see this as a good thing and to a point it is, but I feel like a slight bit of more instruction as to what is going on could be helpful.

SSF is a bit rough. I spent much of my time in POE 1 in trade and it ended up pushing me out of the game at times because I would spend hours planning and trading instead of playing games. In POE 2 I decided to try SSF and gearing is difficult if you are unlucky. Every currency is a dice roll. Every item a risk and maintaining any sort of certainty over what will occur is difficult, especially when I feel like I have to spend all of my currency in Act 2 normal to feel like I can progress.

Over all I love POE 2. I will continue to play it and try new builds. I do hope there are some more aggressive changes coming in terms of balancing, loot tuning, and crafting. Good job GGG and I believe you guys are moving in the right direction.

Fantastic idle game with plenty of reason to be active. If you have ever played runescape, this is a fantastic idle game reminiscent of it. Has its own unique enemies and story. I highly recommend this game. PS: I have played this well before it launched on steam

This is a fantastic game. It doesn't have the most exciting story line, but it has the most replay value out of any game I have ever played and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes games that involve farming for items or MMORPGs.
