Octopath Traveler III waiting room.

Fun game with souls-like combat but with enough of its own uniqueness to pass as its own game.
Before you buy the game, be warned that there effectively two difficulty modes for this game: an easy mode and a hard mode.

Easy Mode: You choose to have a partner. The game was "balanced" for you having a partner, but because of its souls-like combat, having a partner makes things much much easier for you. It gives you a significant boost to damage, potential to stunlock, healing if you are about to die, buffs, etc. At the very least, it can take aggro off of you for a few seconds so you can heal/rebuff. This makes the game significantly easier, and most of the bosses will be a breeze.

Hard Mode: You choose to go solo. The game wasn't necessarily balanced around this, and you'll definitely feel it. Many areas are designed to have increased mobs since you are meant to have a partner, so getting overwhelmed will be a frequent occurrence. Bosses will become much more difficult and punishing. However, this is definitely truer "soulslike experience."

Either way, its a fun experience with a decent plotline.
