A unique game that combines zombie survival with simulation. It's a fine game, but I am frustrated that after coming back to it every couple of years for nearly a decade, it feels almost completely unchanged. I put in most of my hours not long after the game went public. The promise of NPC survivors years ago held so much potential to make each new start more lively. I'll always blame kids and their constant crying for multiplayer for sidetracking development for over a decade.

There's just something about Fallout 3... It's not pretty, it's clunky, and there are like three voice actors total, but, in my opinion, it's still one of the greatest 3D RPGs. The dialogue choices, characters, skills, atmosphere, and exploration made this the staple of what I've considered a proper RPG for more than half of my life now.

A fine shop simulator with huge potential for depth. The card art is solid, and opening packs between dealing with customers is a lot of fun, with the added bonus of finding rare cards to sell as singles. I look forward to grading being implemented. I would love to see multiple grading companies to choose from and possibly their listed populations.

You would be hard-pressed to find another franchise collection as convenient and polished as this one.

A bit buggy, a bit clunky, but if you're a fan of Homestuck then you know that such details just add to the authenticity. This game has a lot of potential, but being a fan will definitely help with your enjoyment, as most people will likely not have the patience for the esoteric, ambiguous nature of Sburb. It's fun being able to reenact John's shenanigans with punching Captchalogue cards, alchemizing them, and beholding the silly results in hopes of something stronger so you can kill more mobs quickly and acquire grist for more experimenting. Your Kernelsprite has some fun dialogue (I love the Problem Sleuth sprite) and helps with combat near your home. At this point in development, there isn't much else beyond building up to the gates and exploring the dungeons on your planet. I do hope this project pulls through and continues to offer a source-faithful experience that also manages to encapsulate a fun gameplay loop. I look forward to the day you can visit Prospit and Derse, the Battlefield, and God-Tiering.

After all these years, I finally feel like putting in my thoughts on this series. At least up to this entry. I like these games, but warning, I'm about to be very critical. Season 2 was not a bad game, but the story was much messier and riddled with more strange writing choices than the first season. I will never view the way this story dealt the first two major deaths as anything more than a writing cop-out from writers who did not want to deal with the complex relationships they'd have to think about if they had survived beyond the intro. This was an okay story that I believe many felt could have been better, which I find evident in the fact that 8 of my Steam friends own Season 1, 6 own Season 2, and no one, including myself, owns anything beyond.

This game can be fun, but I feel I can't recommend a War Sim when I only find joy in non-combat roles (logistics, medical, building). The gunplay in this game is atrocious and, at times, hideous to behold. I loathe the fact that, for the most part, getting good at infantry combat entails tons of unnatural, jerky movements to dodge bullets and maximize accuracy. Momentum needs to be more of a hindrance in the way soldiers move.

It's true. All of it...

With nearly two decades of dedicated development, Dwarf Fortress is easily a contender for being the most detailed fantasy-themed simulator in existence. Among the many windows hidden throughout the interface you will find colorful details like the tears coating your dwarve's eyes, the exotic thread of a shirt, or the names and parts of musical instruments that are different with each new culture. Every (highly customizable) world you generate is riddled with its own organically grown characters, towns, and mythical beasts. All of this lore is documented in a nice and simple text-based interface that allows for easy perusal.

Be prepared for frequent wiki visits once you are familiar with the basics, which the built-in tutorial goes over well. As the developers strive to ground their fantasy world in realism, certain mechanics that are simpler and more intuitive in other games may come off as slightly more esoteric in Dwarf Fortress. Unlike crafting games like Minecraft, where the player digs up “iron ore” and smelts it into iron ingots, non-geologists may be shocked to find no such ore in Dwarf Fortress, for in reality, “iron ore” is a category of ores that are rich in metallic iron. Instead, in order for your dwarves to smelt iron they will have to keep an eye out for deposits of magnetite, hematite, and/ore limonite. Mercifully, the in-game descriptions note the applications of each mineral.

Chances are, if you're considering this game, then you've put an hour or two into Rimworld. If so, then the learning curve will be much less steep, but still a workout. A lot of the challenge will be learning the interface and remembering where everything is.

After all these years, perhaps the most miraculous aspect of this game is its developer's ability to stick it out so long and see their visions made real. I look forward to the plans they have for the future and the continued development of the gorgeous pixel art.

It is still in need of more polishing and variety, but for now this game is serviceable while being perhaps the only one of its kind. Laying track can be time-consuming and tedious, especially with such a large map, but it is also very rewarding to finally build a stable route that wont have you re-railing your rail cars every minute. For me, most of the fun comes from feeling out the logistics and getting large trains through precarious grades. Enough information is also provided so that one may do their own math for determining if they have enough power to get through a route.
