I distincly remember buying Arma just to play DAYZ, there is now a standalone game which apparently I have to buy now.
It's not really that good, clunky controls, caustic community, zombie ai is attrocious to say the least.

It's an indie game, need I say more?

Don't buy this game.
It's glitchy and ♥♥♥♥. The developer is taking a millenia, probably hoping to die of old age so he does not have to fufill his kickstarter.
The voice acting was cringeworthy (all the old men are beautiful).
The combat system is horribly broken, as is the content creation systems.
You can have a sword that looks decent OR a random array of voxels that actually does damage.
Turrets don't do ♥♥♥♥, they have been nerfed even more. Main tactic is to stock up on revive kits and continuosly revive youself while attacking a boar with a toothpick.
Vehicles are beyond useless, Flying machines are cool, but too expensive and out of reach (you have to make it through the glitchy campaign first).
I would suggest pirating this, so you can experience the overwelming amount of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ content before you recoil in disgust.

Somehow they managed to make this worse. Don't know how they did it but I suggest that they give up while they are ahead.

2017 review update

Devs have completely given up on the game, no intention of fixing anything or making the game actually playable.
