Early Access Review
I have clocked over a hundred hours in this game (maybe around 200) before I bought it on Steam to show the devs support. The core gameplay (aside from the long, repetitive and tedious walks) is good in my opinion and the game in general, while unfinished, feels like it has very solid foundations. Especially the art style and animations - I see them as a great example for the pixelart genre as a whole. I am usually very picky when it comes to games having any kind of "janky" feel to it and this game manages to make me very pleased - it's really satisfying to play. It actually is one of the very few games that would always stick on my mind even after I would be done playing, so I am really really really excited for when it will be fully released.

Though there's one problem - game is not even halfway done. The thing is that it does have quite the amount of content already available, but it's very little (especially in terms of story) compared to what the devs are promising. To add to this - development is extremely slow, though the devs do seem comitted to it so I am rather confident it won't be abandoned anytime soon. While the huge time periods between posts or updates might be a bummer, I would honestly have this over a rushed product, so in this regard I really respect the devs and their "Valve-esque" way of thinking and I hope they will continue like this - I am a pretty impatient person, but I would rather play the game of my dreams in 10 years than to play another one of those games that go out of EA fast and end up seriously disappointing with a lot of under-delivered content and leaving me with a bad taste in the mouth - I'm really tired of that.

Now, is the game worth buying? If you're not strapped for cash I would suggest giving this game a try - specifically focusing on the core mechanics. If you find the general gameplay loop of "stock up in town -> go to dungeon -> clear dungeon -> back to town" enjoyable, you would be able to squeeze out a very decent amount of time played and you will be getting your money's worth - with the additional chance of getting even more enjoyment after every major update every 1-2 years or so.
If you end up finding the gameplay loop mildly or not at all enjoyable - refund and put this at the bottom of your wishlist. Then check on it once in a while until it gets "The Story Update".

I really feel like this game has great potential - like No.1 in my favourite games of all time kind of potential (and I've been playing games - mostly indies - every day for the past 17 years)
I am extremely excited for what this game could become at version 1.0, so hopeful that even years of development time could justify it. Until then I can only wish good luck to the devs who already have done a great job so far - they set a high standard (in a good way) - so I am eager to see them keeping at it.

The game manages to really well scratch a "The Curious Expedition" itch for me. Some UI interactions feel a bit unresponsive and there's quite a bit of placeholder text but otherwise the foundation is extremely solid and I think this could easily be a 10/10 title after some polish. Fun gameplay and really great world-building. Looking forward for the release!

Unforgiving survival game with simple yet solid mechanics, an amazing art style and great atmosphere. Might be too slow paced for some but most will love this pinnacle of the survival genre
