Really cute interactive visual novel with very minor gameplay segments.
Easy to 100% achievements, but a bit tedious. (Well worth the laughs)

Play Vanilla Dark Souls 2 first. This should be seen as a hard mode to Dark Souls 2 à la Ocarina of Time Master Quest; it is harder just for the sake of being hard, with a front ended difficulty curve. Also, learn to dance around your enemies without using lock-on to save stamina for attacking instead of rolling, and you should have plenty of fun.

This game was a massive disappointment from From Software.
Built in input delay, terribly designed bosses with too many "gotcha" attacks, a non play-tested late game, FromSoft's traditional obtuse quest lines are further dragged down by the large open world, asset reuse that isn't even explained in-universe, certain damage types(read: holy) being damn near useless outside of catacombs while bleed and frost can one shot just about any boss that isn't immune to them, group boss fights that were clearly not designed for solo play, and some of the most blatant input reading one can imagine makes me wonder how this game got so many perfect review scores.

This is a great open world game compared to newer Assassin's Creed and GTA titles, but it fails to make me enjoy it as a Souls game.

I will say that I do enjoy the story, lore, and multiple quest lines of this game that comes from the perfect mix of Miyazaki and GRRM's combined brain power.

There are many better options you can choose than this game. For example: if you want to play a great open world game, go play Breath of the Wild; an action game, Devil May Cry or similar character action game; a FromSoft Soulslike, Dark Souls 1 for classic lovers, Dark Souls 3 for a much more polished and streamlined Souls experience, or Dark Souls 2/Bloodborne for an alternative twist to Souls gameplay from FromSoft.

tldr: a disappointment compared to FromSoft's past "Souls" works that really shows its cracks once you reach mid-late game. 4/10
