There are games that I (very much) enjoy and then there are games that I love. This is one of the latter.

Pentiment is like a beautiful puzzlebox with many little doors to open and pieces to uncover. Pieces of life, of different interesting characters, of history and myth, of believes and ideologies. All exquisitly written, and packed up with beautiful illustrations and tunes that reflect the care of the developers thowards their game. It was lovely to see how even the UI was fondly taken care of in the shape of a book full of handwriten notes and handrawn maps... and to listen to the few medieval songs that appeared here and there through the game and that made me connect emotionally even more so with Pentiment's world.

I appreciate this game not as much because of the wide variety of choices and consequences, as about the significance of them. Pentiment talks about trauma, about how history repeats itself, about hope and faith, love and despair. It goes deep and it touches you.

It's a beautiful gem.

If anything of what I said resonates within you, just click, lay back and enjoy the trip.
