Dont get the DLC. It's just there for fans to support the company (Tripwire) and community. Most of it is just skins or weapon packs that don't add much. You can unlock characters from the annual events anyways. I'd say try it during the free week and see what you think before buying. Then again 3.99 is a steal. I'll be on playing it a bunch during the event.
