At first, I didn't like the game much. YouTubers were saying it had Isaac-like synergies, but the first few runs felt the exact same. That was until I realized that all the items don't appear in the game by default. You use soul coins with The Imprisoned to unlock new items in the tower. About 7 hours in, runs feel a lot more diverse and after you get the hang of the health currency mechanic, it actually becomes a really nice feature. It makes you decide how much risk vs reward you want at every turn. Taking too little risk will make you under-powered, but taking too much will cause you to have to play insanely safe. I can't count how many times I fumbled the last floor and have to fight the final boss on 2 hearts because I took too much risks. Highly recommend. There's also a lot of unlockables, so if that's your thing I think you'd love this game.

I've tried multiple platform fighters, and this is probably one of my favorites out right now. A lot of other ones either felt heavy (Rivals), too complex (Rushdown Revolt), or felt clunky (Smash). Brawlhalla has a super satisfying combo system, very satisfying sounds, a pretty ok art style, and a huge character selection. As well as feeling very controllable, which for a casual player like me is very important

Early Access Review
The game has potential, but right now it seems like a realism shooter made in Roblox that you have to pay for. I don't think the realism merges well with the style of game

chances are you're buying this game because of nostalgia. i'd say it's worth the pickup on a sale. but keep in mind, this game runs badly on windows 10 machines, you have to download an fps fix to make it run smoothly

to anyone who hasn't played it, if you're looking for a pretty challenging horror shooter, this is a must play. might not be as scary nowadays but it still has its charm

I've been playing this game since beta. I love it, and have a deep passion for it. However, I only feel this way because of the characters, and the friends I've made in the community. Otherwise, the game has constant bugs, balance issues, and had a very unfortunate launch. A lot of features that were in beta were just straight up not present in the full release. The game released in a worse state too. Even if they are fixing up the game right now, most of my friends had bad first impressions and no longer want to return to the game. If the game does get fixed up, I don't think the player-base will ever recover.

The game has it's issues, but overall I think it is worth the money if you grew up on some of the older Lego games.

Pros: Tons of collectibles, and the most playable characters to unlock yet. There definitely isn't an issue with game play time here. There could be hundreds of hours sunk into this game.

The levels, or areas, are expansive, beautiful, and extremely well put together.

Physics, animations, and game play is super smooth. I thought it'd be pretty dodgy since it is their first (I think) game in full 3rd person rather than fixed camera. But it works perfectly, aside from a very few specific situations.

Cons: My main gripe so far are the bugs. I've gotten soft locked 3 times so far. There's definitely quite a few bugs in this game. None of which are some of the "Fun" bugs. They're just super annoying.

The writing. It follows a kinda warped story line of star wars and is changed at times to either make it funnier, more kid friendly, or fit into the shorter cutscenes, which is fine. But I think it could've been done better. Some parts are still funny but the cutscenes feel like they're going a mile a minute and are kinda rushed in terms of having you know what's going on (If you've never seen star wars, or haven't watched any of them in a long time)

The menus are also horrible and hard to navigate.

I think overall this game is worth it if you're a Lego and/or Star Wars fan. However, with the bugs I can't recommend it to new players because they are quite confusing and annoying at times. Only time I figured out I was soft locked was by looking up a walkthrough to see that my game was not working right and I had to restart the levels.
