If you want to play Chaos on Immortal Empires right now you pretty much have to choose Warriors of Chaos, since the monogod daemon factions are obviously not adjusted to fit (technology and mechanics don't fit IE map). If you have WoC from old games then they are quite fun, but the new WoC lords are the choice for IE monogod representation. While they receive different and sometimes weaker versions of the monogod daemon mechanics, most of the mechanics work far better combined with the vassal mechanic for WoC (playing with diplomacy from slaanesh/tzeentch, positive plague effect spreading for vassals).

While you don't receive completely new units, the lords have significant technology bonuses that help greatly differentiate their flavors of Chosen/Knights/Aspiring Champions/Exalted Heroes. In particular, Festus has a particularly monstrous set of bonuses for Aspiring Champions, Chosen of Nurgle, and Nurgle Exalted that really makes them feel like an unstoppable slow moving tide of inevitable death on the battlefield.

This game is huge, probably some of the best setpieces in any game I've played. Combat is fluid and amazing, just be ready to adapt because new bosses/enemies are designed to punish pure rollspam play. If you want to melee you need to learn to parry/guard counter, otherwise go magic or weapon arts spam.

While I enjoy the game I cannot recommend it at the moment due to two major bugs.

All my loot has stopped scaling past level 6, while enemies for missions are still scaled up to my current level of 8, which means the only way to reasonably damage them is with dropkick spamming. This is pretty bad for any motivation to continue doing side missions/exploration, but I've also been hit with a bug that completely blocks main quest progression, in the Nightrunners quest I'm told to speak to Frank, but he's perpetually stuck in a "please wait" and for some reason a bizarre second objective of defeat renegades was added, but no renegades are marked on the map, and none can spawn in the Canteen.

I can handle the multitude of other minor bugs with audio, animations, combat, etc. but being blocked from completing the games story, and getting no reward from exploring/doing side missions has completely killed my ability to enjoy playing the game, I'll update this review when some of the issues are fixed.

The difficulty complaints are somewhat unusual to me, as I feel like there are so many ways to "cheat" the system built into the game. Some enemy encounters are extremely difficult in the mid-late game, but abusing the devil gauge and infinite resets makes the lategame quite fun. "Deckbuilding" and certain artifacts are crucial, as playing the game like a normal turn based rpg exchanging hits will never work since enemy HP and damage scaling surpass your own.

Early Access Review
Probably one of the best endings in any game I've ever played. Extremely long, rigorous boss fight gauntlets that required complete master of the systems to scrape through, satisfying conclusion, and very hype moments.

I probably spent almost half my hours towards the last quarter of the game/finale.

Great soundtrack, aesthetics, and well balanced gameplay.

The game punishes mistakes harshly, but less instant massive losses like in XCOM when you're best soldier gets 1 shot (unless you really ♥♥♥♥ up in this game or are underleveld). Attrition based, so each little hit your daughters take is painful, especially since there's no way to heal without sacrificing a character (which is alleviated once you clear a few acts and start getting escort missions for rez tokens).

First playthrough is very punishing, but gradual progress is gained as you progress further in the story you get unlockable bonuses (most importantly, each act you clear halfway to "discover" a boss gets you a rez token on all subsequent playthroughs), letting you carry progress over from your failed runs, including your original daughters you failed with.

Bosses are extremely punishing and memorable, and a single loss against them ends your run. The ability to check all units abilities allows you to mostly play around them, with a few exceptions with phase changes.

In the lategame enemies are extremely dangerous, sometimes instantly killing your characters in a single free action or chaining attacks, but soulslingers and shieldbearers allow you to move your characters up and enemies down in the timeline. All normal enemies can be knocked back to prevent them from acting, and bosses have 70% resistance, but you can still delay them a few turns.

Has a strategic layer as well, since once you finish the game you can start theorycrafting how to generate the perfect daughter, since stats and some traits are randomized, and some are only available at certain (low or high) levels.

Terrible beginning, but once you hit midgame, which is maybe 5-10 hours (depending if you skip dialogue and cutscenes) you can start having fun with the tactical battle missions with troops, and you get just about all your combo linking skills unlocked. Endgame is when the game shines, when you get access to all troop types, and can start doing invasions + raids.

Easy enough to PUG everything with the group finder thus far, but troop composition is pretty important.

Best part is how fast you can hit cap and get to the fun stuff, takes maybe 15-25 hours to hit cap.
