Activision does not deserve your money.

I played this game on PS4 back when it was a new game, and it was great. I bought it on sale for PC, and it is the worst port I have ever played, hands down. Horrid graphical bugs, always-online DRM even in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ singleplayer, constant freezing, stuttering, and crashing. The game will not even start anymore, it just crashes when you get to the "Connecting to Online Services" screen. What a complete joke.

The game itself is actually one of the better releases in the line of annual slop Activision pushes out, which I guess is remarkable given how bad each one has been for the past decade or so. Campaign story ranged from mediocre to godawful, but is held up by the satisfying animations, gunplay, and the design of the missions. Clean House is the best mission in the entire franchise because it does exactly what it needs to; It drops the formulaic 'Sgt. Call of Duty kills 1,000 bad guys and wins' bravado and is a mission about killing a few people in a tight sequence that maintains tension throughout. That mission and "Going Dark" alone raised my rating for it by at least 3 points.

Then there's multiplayer. I just miss when CoD had an art style and multiple factions with distinct looks. Black Ops 2 was the last time this franchise ever actually tried to innovate in something other than microtransactions and DLC bundles. At first it was actually trying to be realistic with no flashy weapon skins or ridiculous operator customization, but now it's just a mess of anime guns and warzone battle passes. Other than that, gunplay is really good, and the gunsmith feature is paradise for gun autists like me.

I never played Spec-Ops, but from what I've seen it's just downgraded from 2011 MW3. Not good.

Overall: 7/10
This ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Port: 0/10

The only people who like F.E.A.R 2 are either Call of Duty fans who have never played a competent shooter before, or people who have never played the original F.E.A.R.

I feel that the best way of explaining just how bad this console-ized joke of a shooter is is with a list describing every feature that has been downgraded from the original. Here goes:

Everything Wrong With F.E.A.R 2

-There is no leaning, so cover is pointless
-The cold, industrial artstyle of the first game has been replaced with glowy over the top sci-fi garbage
-The writing is cringeworthy and obviously dated
-The dynamic lighting is basically absent
-The level design is not designed to facilitate the AI of the first game at all
-The sound design is garbage
-Aim down sights forces you to zoom in every time you want to shoot at an enemy, making John Wu fighting completely moot
-The "horror" segments add up to nothing and are just cheap
-POST. PROCESSING. OUT. THE. ASS.
-Slow-motion is basically useless now, since it feels unsatisfying and there is no incentive to use it because of how easy the game is
-Hitmarkers, because F.E.A.R 2 has no idea how to make gunplay satisfying without flooding the user interface
-The user interface itself is very intrusive and makes you feel fish-eyed
-Quick-time events. Enough said.
-The enemy design is generic and even the iconic replica enemies just don't live up to what they were in the first game
-Every combat arena you're in is way too small and linear, with even the more open segments near the end feeling like you're just spawncamping the enemies
-The r@pe scene at the end. I'm not even going to go there.

Simply put, this is the worst sequel I have ever played, potentially even the worst FPS game I've played. I could not even bring myself to finish this, despite the fact that it's only ~5 hours long. What was once grounded is now cartoony, the story doesn't go anywhere (since it was wrapped up quite nicely in the first F.E.A.R), and it's just yet another generic blue and orange console FPS that came out in the late 2000s.

To quote MandaloreGaming, "Other shooters are better, other horror games are better, and F.E.A.R is better."

Overall: 1/10.

When I first reviewed this DLC, my ending statement on what was basically a rant about bomb collars and how pointless it seemed to me after a first playthrough was, "Overall: 3/10. Just don't." I've since changed my mind about this DLC, and it's definitely another reason why I think Steam could definitely benefit from a sideways thumb option.

This is a DLC that definitely takes more than one playthrough to appreciate, and it's a lot more enjoyable if you play the DLC in order and especially if you experience the whole story. Let's talk positives first.

Dead Money is challenging, and unlike the base game, you're going to have to rely on scavenging to live. You don't get to fast travel to Gun Runners' or immediately destroy most enemies with an Anti-Materiel Rifle in V.A.T.S. I'll admit that when I first played this, I was frustrated with this aspect because I felt that it invalidated all of the work you'd have put into your character going in, but now I see why this was done. It's a survival horror, and it definitely pulls off the unnerving and outright dismal atmosphere that I felt was missing from quite a lot of the Mojave, especially after 9 playthroughs. The Sierra Madre is a relic of the old world, frozen within 200 years of human greed and old holograms; Fitting for its themes. The ambience alone is what made this so captivating to me, and much like Lonesome Road it reminds me of why I should be afraid of Fallout's setting. The companions you fight with are memorable, Dean's voice actor does a great job of portraying an obsessed narcissist and God/Dog is probably the best characterized mutant in the series. The ending to this DLC is definitely something that takes getting used to (I'll mention that in a bit) but it's the best ending to any of the DLCs for this game I've played, regardless of which choice you pick. It's a shame that the illustrated opening/ending slides wasn't carried over to the other DLC quests.

Now for negatives.

Dead Money is rough, which is why I simply can't say that most people will enjoy this the first time. The radios are infamous for how annoying they are to deal with, especially on hardcore, and I agree wholeheartedly. If there weren't as many, especially in the ending segment, the reviews for this DLC would probably shoot up a solid 25% or more. It's made even more infuriating when you can't see them or when you have to deal with them while fighting Ghost People in the middle of a cloud. Speaking of them, the base game suffers from a bug where you're unable to actually target their bombs in V.A.T.S, meaning that Dean's advice doesn't mean much if you're a bad shot in this game's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ engine. Moreover, the stealth segments are absolute hell on Earth if you don't have enough points in Sneak or if you like to play this game without savescumming, since the holograms are impervious to all damage and can be unpredictable at times. It's just not fun to deal with them. It's level design also suffers from heavy linearity and same-y map design. Since Fallout New Vegas is a game of exploration and choice, it's really counter-intuitive to restrict players with inefficient fast travel and areas that honestly feel like they were made to confuse you. If you're not good with energy weapons, sneak, and unarmed/melee, this DLC is not going to be fun for you, which is why I had such a scathing critique of it when I first completed the thing.

Other than that, I'd say this DLC is the best in terms of story and atmosphere alone (though it is rivaled by Lonesome Road in the latter), but it's gameplay suffers because of its very linear level design and inflexibility when it comes to skill requirements.

The ending is also kind of made moot if you're a chad like me who can haul 39 gold bars out like it's nothing, but that's neither here nor there.

Overall: 6/10, bordering on 7.

Day of Defeat: Source reminds me of a bygone era of multiplayer shooters and video games in general. I feel like this is what Team Fortress 2 would have been like back in 2007, no updates and a community that isn't filled with 10 year olds. Hell, most of the people I've met on this game are actual military veterans and people who have played since the late 1990s. The game is a bit of a meatgrinder sometimes, and the weapons can be jank as all hell, but it's overall a good experience.

8/10

The game is not optimized at ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ all for AMD graphics cards, which is honestly pathetic for a game developer like MachineGames. They didn't even consider fixing this at launch, and I've done everything to try and resolve it but it just will not work. Even the damn menus and intro videos are laggy. At the very least, I bought this game on sale, so I only wasted $5 instead of $20. I'm getting a refund.

To a lot of people, Mirror's Edge is just a cool parkour game with a focus on mastery. To me, it's an amazing showcase of what gaming can do with environments. Something about this game's artstyle and presentation makes me feel this odd sense of nostalgia, as if i've been there many times before. The soundtrack is honestly one of the best i've heard in gaming, some of the greatest tracks would have to be the Kate Puzzle theme and the main menu track.

However, the game struggles when it comes to story. It has basically no narrative or character arcs that matter, and i couldn't tell you a single thing about these characters' personalities. I've heard that there was originally going to be monologues from Faith during quiet portions of the game, although only one of these remains. I have a feeling the story would be a lot more impactful if they kept those bits of dialogue, but otherwise, it's just bland.

Overall: 8/10, buy it on sale

It's a very fun game but a lot of things need work. For one, I do not like the bleeding mechanic, and for another, this game has virtually no people playing. The only server up is run by an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ admin who bans people for no reason. The server's name is Ecs-Tiva's server.
