Cool game, feels very in-progress. Missing most features you expect from these types of games Looking forward to 1.0 in a few years.

This game is great. There's absolutely no doubt about that. You'll do yourself a disservice by not playing this game. I play with a couple mods that fix bugs and that's it. It's a definite recommendation from me.

The one large downside? I didn't get the same feeling as when I cracked into FO3 and NV. I can't even put my finger on it. I just don't get that same feeling of awe. I can easily put the game down at any time. I don't think about playing during the day at work. Which, dissapoints me. I'm still another 50 hours away from being complete. I encourage myself to start playing. When I do, I have a good time. I will come back here and edit if that feeling of old ever comes back.

Perhaps it was a obvious attempts are adding a bit of horror movie to the title. Maybe it was the string of shallow quests that you consume in between fantastic ones. Although, it could certainly be the lack of excitment when reaching most new points on the map.

There are excellent quests and areas on the map that you just haven't seen in any other game, ever. There are a few incredible points on the map that you'll never forget. I found the dialog to be rather clever, if not pertinent. Most of the characters were cool. BoS is badass as always

Don't buy a steam controller if you're looking to replace that Xbox remote. They're good for ninche cases or if you're looking to do some PC style browseing from your couch. I have yet to find a game where the steam controller is better than the Xbox controller, even with hours of optimistically trying.

These remotes are cool if you're really into an advanced remote design & feature set. With that said, cool is different than practical and applicable.

Good:
-Quality is great.
-Unique features that enable you to do stuff on your PC that the Xbox remote just isn't capable of without additional software($$$).
-Customization, in theory, should make this remote win over Xbox remote.
-Can overcome the "this game requires a keyboard & mouse" requirement.
-Keyboard typing is awesome with this remote.

Bad:
-Will not replace the Xbox remote in most cases (75%, at least). Don't buy this expecting to replace your Xbox remote.
-The hours spent needing to learn & customize for every game just isn't an interesting endevor for most people.
-Xbox remote has a simplicity to it that this remote just doesn't have.
-The updates the firmware are really cool, but again this adds more complexity to a part of gaming most of us don't find interesting.

If you're looking for the best PC to TV streaming device on the market, this is it. If your chromecast, appleplay or other PC to TV streaming device just isn't cutting it, try this out. Gaming is just one application of this device, not the only.

What to do:
-Make sure you have a 5 GHz WiFi AC capable router within a reasonable range (at most ~35 ft or about 3 room's length with no metal/concrete obstructions). Otherwise, plan to run a cable. Don't try this on 2.4 Ghz band or at long distances.

-Check your library and find games like Fallout 4, Skyrim, Doom, This War of Mine, South Park Stich of Truth, etc. Heavily role playing chill out games.

-Stream sports and other stuff you might use a chromecast for and be amazed at how much better Valve does streaming.

-This is the best streaming device on the market for a great price. Gaming is one applicaiton, but not the only and may not be the best depending on the game.

-Try a game once on steam link and see if you do good enough to warrent investing time on the couch vs in your pc chair.

-Learn how the device works. It takes 5 minutes to turn it on and screw around enough to figure that out. You'll learn that you can alt+tab out of Big Picture mode and explore what you've always wanted to stream to your TV, but couldn't with chromecast.

What not to do:
-Play games heavily reliant on millisecond reaction times. This is some shooters and most platformers. Fallout 4 works great, btw.

-Don't buy a steam controller. They're only good for niche cases. Like, if you're looking to do some PC style browseing from your couch. I have yet to find a game where the steam controller is better than the Xbox controller, even with hours of optimistically trying.

-Replace bringing your PC out to the big living room TV with this device. Having this expectation will just disapoint. If you like to bring your gaming rig out to your big 4K 65' TV, that's a different use case than what you'll be using Steam Link for.
