Early Access Review
Came for the story, stayed for the speedrun platforming. Nice to see a cyberpunk setting that isn't 1000% grim and depressing. Simple controls put the focus on good timing and paying attention. Skillful play is rewarded with fast, flowing movement.

Fascinating experiment, sort of a survival horror FPS that runs light on visceral horror but heavy on tension. The detailed gun mechanics were frustrating at first but gave a sense of accomplishment once I got the patterns down. (I often found myself compulsively checking the colt/glock to make sure a round was chambered and spinning the revolver cylinder "for luck" before snapping it shut.)

The randomized tapes remind me a little of Dear Esther's non-linear storytelling (if someone did a Dear Esther/Receiver mashup, I would buy that in a heartbeat :)

If you are frustrated by making mistakes and learning through trial-and-error, you will probably not enjoy this game. To get anywhere, you will die and restart. A lot. Bullets are scarce, and you die in one hit, so it's not a game for people who want to rush around blowing things away. Much of my enjoyment of the game came from efficient use of those scarce bullets and outwitting the drones.

If you are interested in game design and how design decisions and minimalist storytelling affect the player experience, this is definitely worth a look.

This is not a "gamer" game. This is a story game. No tricky jumps to master or ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ soupcans to rearrange. The characters are ordinary humans. No monsters or magic.

And it is a damn good story.

Come guide Kaitlin in finding out why her parents and younger sister are not there to greet her when she returns home.
