This game is just like phasmo but way way better. You can finally get rid of the ghost. Plus more maps and features. This game should become very popular. I highly suggest giving it a try!

This game is great. It has all the features of the games I love and hold dear and made it into something new. Servers are stable, game is stable. Launch was without issues. Devs are responsive game is not 60 dollars. It is totally worth it. The gameplay is amazing. Honestly shocked how well it is put together.

This game has a lot of haters but is honestly really good. I put in 60 hours in 3 days on pre release and every moment was awesome. I will stay the combat is super fun it seems complex but it is really not. You will enjoy it just give it a chance. Plus its free so why not? Avoid launch day issues and your fine :)

Alright, I have not even beat a campaign yet and I got to say its totally worth it. Especially if you got a buddy to play along. This game provides so many hours of fun. You might need a few mods to make the game more fun *cough* upkeep mod *cough* but this game is stupid fun. Win impossible situations along your co op partner and lay waste to everyone. I feel this is one of the best total wars I have ever played.

A Rough Gem in the Right Hands
I’ve had a long history with Atlas, running multiple servers over the years, from a 4x4 grid to my latest 6x6 PvE setup. My initial frustration with the game stemmed from its dwindling player base, developer neglect, and questionable design decisions. However, after revisiting Atlas with a properly configured unofficial server, my perspective has shifted—this game still has a lot to offer, but only under the right circumstances.

A Game with Wasted Potential, Yet Still One-of-a-Kind
When Atlas first launched, it promised a grand pirate survival experience, and in many ways, it delivered. The PvP mechanics were engaging, ship-building was deeply rewarding, and the world was vast and full of potential. Unfortunately, the developers' "vision" took the game in a direction that alienated many players. PvE content was severely lacking, and with PvP suffering from a shrinking player base, the game quickly became stale.

The introduction of modular ships was a particularly controversial change. Instead of allowing for the deep customization that made ship-building exciting, modular ships made everything feel generic. The joy of crafting unique vessels was lost, reducing variety and creativity. For a pirate game, the lack of diverse ships remains baffling.

The Stability of a Finished (Abandoned) Game
After years in early access with slow progress and frustrating bugs, Atlas is now essentially abandoned by its developers. But ironically, this has led to a form of stability. No more game-breaking updates. No more constant overhauls that disrupt server configurations. What’s left is a surprisingly functional survival game—if you play it in the right way.

Unofficial Servers: The Only Way to Play
The official servers remain a ghost town, but on well-maintained unofficial servers, Atlas shines. With a proper PvE setup, balanced difficulty, and carefully curated mods, the game offers a long-term, engaging experience. Mods breathe new life into Atlas, expanding its content and fixing many of its flaws. While the modding community has shrunk, enough content exists to keep the game fresh for a long while.

That said, the modding scene does have its downsides. Some of the best mods are locked behind specific private servers, preventing them from benefiting the broader community. This has hurt the game's overall potential, but for those willing to find the right servers, Atlas is still an incredible experience.

Final Verdict: Worth Playing, But Only in the Right Environment
Atlas had the potential to be one of the greatest survival MMOs, but its developers lost their way and ultimately abandoned ship. Despite this, the game remains the best pirate survival experience available—if you play on a well-run unofficial server.

If you're looking for a game with deep sailing mechanics, base-building, and a true sense of adventure, Atlas can still deliver. Just don’t expect official support or future updates. In its current state, Atlas is a finished (albeit abandoned) game that thrives in the hands of dedicated community hosts.

Would I recommend Atlas? Yes, but only if you find a good unofficial server to play on. In the right hands, it’s a fantastic experience that scratches the pirate survival itch like no other game out there.
