Like many of the negative reviews, I want to like this controller.

In fact, I do like the controller. It's comfortable as all hell in your hand, has grips on the underside, which add two additional buttons total, and is customizable beyond belief.

However, that's as far as it goes. I like it as something that sits in my hand, not for playing anything.

-For multiplayer FPS's, nothing beats the traditional mouse and keyboard.

-For more laid back FPS's that I personally enjoy using a game pad with (Bethesda games, for example), I still prefer a regular game pad.

-I thought maybe I'd like it with Dark Souls, since I'd be able to bind the grips to jump attack (a move that otherwise requires a specific input of analog and trigger). Even still, controlling the camera with the right touch pad was unbearable.

That's really what it comes down to: the touch pads. Maybe I'm at fault for not putting days and days of effort into fiddling with the sensitivity, and learning the track pad until it felt more natural. But it feel like the complete opposite of natural. And even if I had put that effort in, I wouldn't have more of an edge using the Steam Controller, versus a standard game pad.

If you're on the edge, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

Can't really argue with the console crowd.
A touch pad is not objectively better than a joystick. It's a different beast. You get higher sensitivity, but the stick has the benefit of tactile feedback. Controllers are naturally very subjective.
As for Railgun there, I think it's past his bedtime.

[NH] Spaghett: Super glue isn't ideal. I would recommed Tamiya Extra Thin Cement. Five dollars for a small bottle, but it will last you a long time. Spreads thin as water for a good-looking seam without blobs or ridges, dries fast, and is very strong. Easy to use.
Plastruct Plastic Weld is another option. Around 7 dollars and harder to use, but you get an even stronger weld. It melts the plastic it comes into contact with (hence the higher difficulty) and when it sets it's nearly as strong as the original piece.

The Steam controller has many great use cases. I admit, it's not ideal for FPS, but honestly, I prefer a keyboard and mouse to a controller for FPS. For something like Rocket League, the steam controller is PERFECT. I get control that I could never achieve with an xbox controller, or a keyboard and mouse. I unfortunately dropped mine a time or two, and the arm for the right bumper broke. I was able to fix it with super glue, and a little patience. I also ordered another one, because I know my temporary fix will eventually fail, and also because I love how the controller feels in my hands, and operates. Even if it is just a glimpse of what is to come, it's still an example of what a good controller should be. Also, if you are wondering, the battery life is AWESOME.

You don't need "days of effort" into it -_-
I literally just ran ds, editted the triggers and bumpers to suit me, set the grips for dodge and use, set the friction to low and that was it. Literally 5 minutes.

And yes, I'm doing A LOT better than with a normal controller, with which I just decided to quit the game after like 2h a few years ago =)))

Well, to each their own I suppose, however you should know that what you're doing isn't an objective review.
Objectivelly, it's superior to a stick, simply because of the more control you have on the motion. Try having lower friction so that a sweep of your finger covers a lot of area, which you can just stop by putting your finger on the pad again.

Like I pointed out in the end of the review, maybe I'm at fault for not putting in days of effort to learn this controller.

You seem to have done that though. So, also, like my review questioned, does the Steam Controller give you that much more of an edge Lhakryma? Do you feel like you're playing the game THAT much better? I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm genuinely curious.

Nope, it's apparently not capable of conversation, just internet memes and buzzwords. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Yes, I did try it, and I continually fell off the edge in The Great Hollow. Over and over. I tweaked it, I still fell.

I personally just prefer having something physical to control my camera with, versus rubbing my thumb on a pad. It feels more reliable.

Wait, so you think a stick is better at controlling the camera in dark souls than the steam pad? O_O
Holy shit dude, did you even actually try it, or are you just talking out of your ass?
The fact that you have precision motion, camera sliding and fast motion beats ANY stick camera.

- wow -
Now I get it.

What is it you prefer exactly?

You're passive-agressively implying my opinion is incorrect, but that's all you said.

Is it capable of conversation, or does it just insult?

Are you retarded ?
