Sakhal is hella underrated. The bad reception is completely unnecessary as people are only blaming the map for the other shortcomings of the game such as the poor AI part of the base game and the cheating problem, instead of judging the map by itself.

No, the map does not exist in a vacuum, and the other issues of the game must be addressed by the devs for the sake of this game’s longevity, but redirecting your complaints about those issues to Sakhal completely ignores all the positive changes this DLC brought to the game and ignores the amazing map the dev’s handcrafted for us players.

If you want a completely unique survival experience filled with player interactions try it out. I cannot in good heart recommend you play on official servers but if you like the DayZ for its survival mechanics and horror atmosphere and exploration, you should definitely play Sakhal on a community server with minimum mods and decent admin activity.

DayZ isn't realistic, it's authentic. There's literally nothing else out there like it. The only time the game feels off is when it tries to be like other games. I love the survival part, but when it leans too hard into milsim territory it just feels wrong. There's already plenty of games doing the tactical military thing better, and honestly that's not what makes DayZ special in the first place. It kinda takes away from what made it unique.

What I love about DayZ is how I can just be whoever I want. What I don't like is how the meta kinda forces you into playing one certain way, using certain gear. It sucks some of the freedom out of it.

Honestly the game feels like a roguelike MMO half the time. It reminds me of The Binding of Isaac in a weird way. You die, you learn, you try again. Yeah, dying is frustrating (especially when it’s because of some bs like a cheater) but if it’s a legit death you almost always walk away learning something new. You just end up being smarter the next time around.

The survival mechanics are super fleshed out, but they're definitely not all intuitive. Half the game is figuring out dumb little systems that no one really explains. Feels janky sometimes but that’s kinda the charm too.

Even if you removed all the survival and PvP stuff, DayZ would still be worth playing just for the player interactions. Nothing comes close. Most of the time people will KOS or backstab you for no reason, but every now and then you'll run into a random dude and end up teaming up and having one of those insane experiences you talk about for years. That's the magic of DayZ.

Dear Devs, please add rust-like monuments similar to the bunkers on livonia and sakhal which require keycards and puzzles to complete and get loot. This would add a ton to the game and pretty much with the addition of boats to the game, adding an oilrig with a keycard accessed loot is a no-brainer.

most unique game world i’ve played in a long time.

i love how open ended the story is and the game lets you theorise about what actially happened in the world you play in.

the movement mechanics are of course unmatched in any other platformer ive played, even though it is simple, it is incredibly robust.

i seem to enjoy the combat a lot more than other people, it feels very skill based and just reminds me of sekiro if there was no parrying; very tight combat and hit detection. the final boss was incredible.

my favourite thing about the game is the music. it feels like i started lucid dreaming when i play this game.

TF2 is the best and most unique online shooter ever made. I love this game for the rest of my life. As pyro i like jumping with the Scorch Shot and defending medics with my life.
