Cruelty Squad Review

Cruelty Squad isn’t a game—it’s a bizarre experience that gets under your skin. It’s not designed to be smooth or easy. It’s rough around the edges, but that’s the point. From the strange visuals to the erratic gameplay, it’s not about comfort; it’s about the chaos of being in a broken world and making your way through it, one disastrous level at a time.

Gameplay & Movement
Movement feels clunky at first. But once you get the hang of it, it clicks. The way the game is designed forces you to think on your feet. There’s a sense of danger everywhere, but that makes every moment where you barely make it out alive feel that much more satisfying. It’s a movement shooter in its truest form—tactical, fast, and brutal. You’ll learn the patterns, but the game will keep throwing things at you that make you feel like you’re just barely staying ahead. It’s that mix of frustration and triumph that makes it all work.

Visuals & Atmosphere
The visuals are jarring, no doubt. At first, it feels like someone just smashed a bunch of weird, ugly textures together, and yet... it fits. The pixelated, broken look reflects the world it’s trying to show—decaying, dystopian, and more than a little off. It’s not polished or clean, but it works. It’s real in a way that’s more unsettling than it is comfortable.

Dialogue & World-Building
The dialogue is strange. It’s not really there to make you feel at ease—it’s meant to make you think, even if it doesn’t make much sense. You’re gonna hear things like “The world is a clock, it only ticks towards oblivion,” and that’s just the surface. The world-building doesn’t hold your hand, and it doesn’t try to explain itself. It throws you into a weird biopunk nightmare, and expects you to figure it out as you go. The dialogue lingers long after you’ve put the controller down. It sticks with you, like a half-remembered dream.

Performance & Bugs
The game runs rough, especially on the bigger maps. There are noticeable frame rate drops and occasional texture issues, but oddly enough, it doesn’t ruin the experience. This game isn’t about perfect performance—it’s about embracing the mess. It’s part of the whole vibe. If you’re looking for a perfectly smooth experience, this isn’t it. But if you’re fine with some jank, you’ll get through it just fine.

Content & Replayability
You’ll finish the game and still feel like there’s more to uncover. That’s the thing about Cruelty Squad—it leaves you wanting more, but not in the usual way. The hunger isn’t for the usual extras or DLC, it’s for more of that strange world and the intense challenges it throws at you. It’s a game that rewards you for diving in deeper, but also leaves you questioning why you keep coming back. That itch, that craving, is just part of the experience.

Conclusion
Cruelty Squad isn’t going to be for everyone. It’s ugly, it’s broken, and it makes you uncomfortable. But if you’re up for something different, something that doesn’t try to hold your hand or make everything pretty, you’ll find a world that sticks with you. It’s chaotic, it’s intense, and it’s definitely something you won’t forget. also if you liked Cruelty Squad get ready for Psycho Patrol R—The Developers next game in the series.

Ogle's Worl
A point in the horizon, a melting scene from your childhood. Your mortality is showing. A frantic drift towards nothing, biology doomed to an infinite recursive loop. Teeth with teeth with teeth. Take a bite. Serene scent of a coastal town, warmth of the sun. Bitter tears. Lust for power. This is where you abandoned your dreams. You are a high net worth individual, an expanding vortex of pathetic trauma. Finally a beautiful ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nerve ape. A pure soul is born. Beauty eludes your porous mind.

The value of Life is negative. The balance of being is rotated by 38 degrees. The surface is full of cracks, a turgid light shines through. Fleshy primordial bodies sluggishly roll down the slope. Only you slide upwards, with a celestial step. You become beautified, a saintly figure. Your pristine idiocy reveals a safe path through the impenetrable fog of Life. Your dull sword cuts through the weak tendons and membranes of the garden of corruption. Sit on the throne of contentment and ferment. Inspect the eternal blue skies of your kingdom. You come to a realization. You pick up an onion and begin peeling.

Onion layer one. Onion layer two. Onion layer three. Onion layer n^n. Aeons have passed and the onion is fully peeled. Nothing remains. It's perfect. You get lost in the point that remains where the onion used to be. Synaptic cascade, neurological catastrophe. The point becomes infinitely dense, the universe condenses into a unicellular being. It screams sin. It craves happiness. It's done with this world. It tries to commit suicide but fails. Sad pathetic mess. You feel pity and disgust but in a way only a being of pure grace can. In your violent mercy you terminate the worldlife.

The living organism, in a situation determined by the play of energy on the surface of the globe, ordinarily receives more energy than is necessary for maintaining life; the excess energy (wealth) can be used for the growth of a system (e.g., an organism); if the system can no longer grow, or if the excess cannot be completely absorbed in it's growth, it must necessarily be lost without profit; it must be spent, willingly or not, gloriously or catastrophically. - Georges Bataille
