This is from someone who played every AC game before this. And I'd like to note my opinions are in comparison of said previous titles from my point of view.
- the map is huge, tho there are nice easter eggs in the dessert, the travel between locations is a pain in the ass
- I understand the change of gameplay style because allegedly it was "what people wanted" at the time but knowing what this game series is supposed to be, it tries to keep both aspects of what it was and wanted to be and fails on both sides in my opinion
- upgrading your gear gives of grinding feelings after you spend 3hrs just to increasing 1 tier of them
- having two different melee weapons sounds good on paper but I just used the one I liked the best anyway
- assassinations are effectively non-existent if you try to kill someone who only just 3lvls above you unlike in syndicate where you could easily cheese your way
- The story is great, seeing how the brotherhood started
- the environment looks beautiful
- the eagle vision change is a smart one I like it but unless you unlocking synch points you can forget about spotting indoor areas
- in AC1 the hand crossbow was removed before the game came out because it wasn't historically accurate which is fair, here you can ride a flaming horse... yeah I can't accept the "handmade animus glitched" excuse every time I see a fantasy element

Is it a good game? yes, haven't finished at the time of this review but playable enough for me to come back to it
is it a good AC game? no, not even close
does it worth its price? If you want an AC game but you stopped at syndicate but don't want to skip games, I recommend to buy it when its on sale, if you just want an AC game with rpg elements then buy odyssey, I heard it does its job better x)

bit hard to get use the controls but it's pretty good overall especially with friends

Buy it so you can beat the sh*t out of people with a dildo bat while you naked xD

after a few years it's hard to argue this game isn't good
it has its flaws (like no update)
but it brought me into the world of gaming so
