Build Our Titans ZA is transitioning into a ZA Titanfall gaming community.

Well what an eventful 3 weeks it has been since EA and Respawn announced that Titanfall wasn't going to be released in South Africa on March 7th! We never envisioned that the petition that was created at change.org (http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/respawn-entertainment-give-south-african-gamers-the-choice-to-play-titanfall) was going to gather so much support (currently sitting at 1809 signatures). This culminated in the issuing of the open letter to Respawn and EA on March 10th (https://www.facebook.com/BuildOurTitansZA/posts/605955549473846) requesting a response by Friday March 14th. We launched a fairly successful twitter campaign aimed at Respawn and EA on March 12th (https://www.facebook.com/BuildOurTitansZA/posts/606806772722057:0) but they chose not to respond by deadline.

We then reissued the letter on March 15th asking Respawn and EA to make some sort of announcement regarding their plans for making Titanfall available to South Africans (https://www.facebook.com/BuildOurTitansZA/posts/607872202615514:0). The deadline date for an answer was today and, as expected, EA and Respawn have not responded.

Fortunately, during launch it became apparent that getting and playing Titanfall in South Africa was very easy despite the fact that it wasn't officially released (https://www.facebook.com/BuildOurTitansZA/posts/606175996118468:0). This was both a blessing and a curse in that we could enjoy the title and play the game, and due to this the support for the "cause" of getting Titanfall officially released in ZA was waning. We could see it in the numbers both on the petition and on our posts: People have moved on: either to another game, or to playing Titanfall itself. We'll even admit that, given the ease at which the game can be obtained, we don't feel the need to push this matter forward any longer.

And this is why today is a good time to make the announcement that Build Our Titans ZA is transitioning from a "cause" or "movement" into a community group (NOT a clan). Does this mean that all of this was in vain? The short answer is no, no it wasn't. Even though we have "lost" a game (and didn't achieve what we set out to do), we have gained a ZA Titanfall gaming community. This FB page has helped numerous people obtain the game and has helped many others with numerous issues such as where to purchase DLC, and how to deal with the loading screen issues. We have also tried to educate ZA players on how to be better pilots with numerous links to YT videos and we have also tried to keep it funny with links to memes and cartoons (all Titanfall related). We have even hosted two very successful Titanfall parties in this time.

From this day forward we would like to focus more on building the ZA Titanfall gaming community. We will continue to host Titanfall events and welcome each and every one of you to join us so that we can play Titanfall together. We have an active TS3 server: ts.titanfall.co.za (password: titanfalltssa) where you can be sure to find numerous other ZA pilots looking to party up against the EU every night. So what can you expect to see? More up-to-date Titanfall news, more events, more links to educational material in Reddit posts and YT videos, more funny cartoons, more help and support to people looking to get and play the game.

What about the petition? We do not intend on taking it down. Respawn and EA have said that they will be looking into our situation post release. The petition will remain up and running until we hear some sort of good news from them. However, we do NOT plan to actively protest the non-release any longer. We might continue creating funny cartoons and memes about our situation but the letters, twitter campaigns and deadlines will stop.

Last but not least, we would like to thank each and every one of you for all the support during these interesting couple of weeks. We never intended to become the unofficial voice for the ZA pilots who had their titans taken away... but the ride has been a blast. We hope that you continue following the page and are enjoying your gaming, whatever it might be that you are playing.
