First up, I'm posting this without anyone else knowing, as much to see if my being able to is in error as to spread the word. To business:

I was not around when myApertureLabs started to crumble, being in voluntary exile from the boards to avoid Portal 2 spoilers. Therefore, I do not know all of the story behind its collapse. I returned a few months ago to find the forum limping along, accessible only by a link from a single white page. Eventually, they too folded.

Like the phoenix rising from the ashes (or indeed GLaDOS from the rubble), however, a new website and forum has grown. It has existed for a while now with some of the old guard and a few new faces discussing and preparing to unleash it onto the world. Well, it's ready.

To celebrate the return, a contest will run from September 21st to October 31st. The theme of this contest will be Custom Content. I realise this is somewhat late, but I didn't realise I could post here until about half an hour ago.

Taking some serious initiative, Cpt. t3x was able to contact Nickworks and ask him about the future of the website, if there is a future at all. What follows is his response:

17:35 - Nickles: but I realised a few weeks ago that when I changed domains, I was no longer receiving mal email
17:36 - Nickles: I'm done with mAL, but if someone else wants to host it, I could transfer ownership of the domain

This means that if there is someone (or some people) out there willing to host the website, Nick will give it to people who aren't "done with it." However, there's a catch.

On October 16th of this year, the domain will expire. The forum will be gone, as will our incredibly decorated main page.

So, if myApertureLabs is to even exist, something must be done within the next few months, otherwise mAL will only exist as a Steam group, a Moddb page, and of course, a memory.

It's hard to admit defeat, but it's pretty clear at this point that the site and forums are not going anywhere. We don't like to see it go, but any options we have don't involve what's there. Until we've got a new direction, the steam group and then little-known moddb group will have to be it for us. Saturday chats WILL continue. Thanks for testing with us, test subjects.
