Left 4 Dead 2 has just been announced at E3 2009. This thread is to keep everything L4D2 related together.

Answer: November 17th, 2009.

Answer: New characters, new location, new zombies, new weapons, new twists and an improved AI Director (also an improved Source Engine from the looks of it)

-- Special Infected --
The Special Infected from Left4Dead (Hunter, Boomer, Smoker, Witch and Tank) are all in Left4Dead 2, there will be other Special Infected from which we only know about 1, The Charger.

Name: The Charger
Attack 1: Being able to shoulder-charge groups of survivors knocking them down for a while.
Attack 2: Being able to grab and throw survivors around.
Description: The Charger is like a breed between a Tank and a normal infected, he's fast and he's strong.

Some of the old Special Infected have been changed too, you might see Special Infected with Hazmat suits, making them immune to fire.
The Witch is now able to wander around from place to place in day-time when she sees fit.

-- Campaigns --
There will be 5 campaigns (some during the day) taking a linear pattern, this allows for character relationships to improve and an actual storyline. (something that was missing from L4D)

Instead of the usual finale we're used to in L4D, the director will throw anything it can at you when you're approaching the rescue vehicle/zone.

To prevent people from camping during Panic Events, most Panic Events will have something that starts them and something that stops them, making the Survivors have to reach the second point while the panic event is taking place.

There will be almost twice more infected through a campaign than what we're used to in Left4Dead.
One of the campaigns takes place in a Swamp.

-- Weapons --
Melee: Axe, Frying pan, Baseball bat, Chainsaw
Guns: Along with the weapons from Left4Dead there's a new Shotgun, a new Semi-Automatic and a new Sniper Rifle.
Bullets: There will be incendiary bullets that you can pick up and it will give you a full clip of bullets that set everything they touch on fire.

-- AI Director 2.0 --
The director will not only be smarter, it will also layout parts of the campaigns randomly. In addition to that it will be able to decorate the levels with common stuff depending on the location you're at. It will also reward exploration.
