Continuing the Boycott of Left 4 Dead 2

The Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott is a unified group of gamers who have agreed to boycott Valve’s sequel to Left 4 Dead. In this group we discuss talking points revolving around the media behind L4D2’s release and the criticisms that are aimed at us, in addition to promoting the online L4D community. We will continue the boycott of L4D2 until Valve fulfills the selling points made for L4D, including but not limited to new weapons and items, Special Infected, and new campaigns.

So far, Valve has delivered on only two bits of content: The first, Survival Mode, is basically a modified Campaign Mode where the players are confined to one part of a map and the spawn times for hordes and infected are altered at time intervals (this mode included only one new map section). A new campaign known as Crash Course was also released, consisting of two map sections compared to the average campaigns five.

We, as a group, do not see such little content as a fulfillment on their part of bringing in new weapons, new items, or new infected, as none of those things were included in either bits. Given the fastidious release date for a full-priced sequel and considering the content within L4D2, which happens to be full of the content that L4D should have received instead, we recognize that L4D2’s release is an immediate insult to every L4D owner regardless whether they know it or not.

As such, we hold Valve to higher quality of standards, given that they are a giant developer that is more than capable of producing both quality and quantity. We believe that if promised content slated for L4D wasn't rolled into L4D2's early development, and the original team reassigned, replacement content would have been delivered in a timely fashion and that there would have been no backlash from the community. Until such a time these content needs are met, we shall continue to boycott L4D2 and any subsequent developments for it.

These are the opinions of the group.

- Valve to deliver on content promises for Left 4 Dead, including, but not limited to: new weapons and items, new Special Infected, and new campaigns.

- Developmental details and promotion of said content to show that it is being worked on and to maintain interest in L4D despite L4D2’s release.

- Actions, not words.

Left 4 Dead 2 campaigns in... Left 4 Dead!

I still remember the time we demanded L4D2 be a DLC for L4D.

Well, it turns out that Valve instead now intends to absorb the first game entirely into the new "upgraded" version.
They have already done this partially by porting No Mercy along with the original survivors. But now they intend to port the rest of the L4D campaigns to the second version.

Incidentally, an ambitious team, which I myself have joined, is working hard on porting the L4D2 campaigns to L4D.

I vaguely remember a comment saying this was impossible...
But then again, many claimed the same about scavenge mode.

New "Left 4 Dead DLC" - The Sacrifice

I might be a *little* late with this but I thought I'd post my thoughts on the matter anyway.

As we found out and as some have indeed suspected, the new Left 4 Dead DLC dubbed "The Sacrifice" will not be exclusive to Left 4 Dead. Instad, The Sacrifice will be available to Left 4 Dead 2 players as well, playable as the original L4D survivors.
The trailer of the DLC (Watch it here: http://steamproxy.com/steamstore/video/550/5952) might have gotten some of you excited, seeing the L4D survivors with katanas and glocks fighting jockeys and L4D2 tanks, but I have to let you down; that is all for L4D2 ONLY.

What Left 4 Dead will (probably) get, is a quick and dirty port of the camaign that was probably intended for L4D2 all along. Nothing shows this better than the fact that the trailer for the DLC is in the Left 4 Dead 2 section, when it's supposed to be L4D DLC which is also for L4D2.

Instead, The Sacrifice is L4D2 DLC, from which a weak thin little slice is also thrown at the L4D players like a bit of skin thrown at an annoying mutt they will put to sleep soon anyway.

On the bright side, Valve is making an improved "redux" version of No Mercy! Awesome, right?
I can't wait to go on Left 4 Dead to try- oh, it's for Left 4 Dead 2.
That's right, to add insult to injury, they even ported the No Mercy campaign from the first game, along with the L4D survivors.

So now the problem is not that this DLC simply doesn't add anything unique to Left 4 Dead to keep it alive, but instead takes two away, the ability to play No Mercy, and the ability to play as the L4D cast. All under the pretense of supporting the first game.

And don't get me wrong, I am more than happy that at least something is ACTUALLY coming out for Left 4 Dead, but the fact that they're keeping up this malpractice, even if only with Left 4 Dead, is beyond infuriating.
