WARNING TO ALL GGF MEMBERS

Me and GotHeemWeavin just encountered a scammer doing a tactic we haven't seen before, so be on the lookout for it.

The scammer added both of us to a chat, appearing to do a middle-man trade for verification. He then added me to his friends list and asked me questions such as "are you on skype?" "where are you from?" "how long have you been friends with this person?". He proceeded to attempt to copy my account (name and profile picture) and made it private. He then sent GotHeemWeavin a trade request. It at first appeared to be an account hijacking and threw us into panic. After seeing that my account went unchanged, we calmed down.

We know this may be obvious, but make sure not to add someone who looks shady. Check their profile for hours, language, and if it is private or not. If they have just 2-5 hours in TF2 or their account is all in Russian, DO NOT ADD THEM.

Whe nthe accoutn is in non-english... so you can really type the guys name, just go to the persons page, right click somewhere and do "Copy Page URL". that will extract the english steam name.

I told him that he seemed shady, and he responded with, "Yeah, I'm slim shady"
Also this guy went from typing to what seemed like a 6th Grade Level English, then all of the sudden he starts typing properly and more fast as soon as I call him out (his name was in chinese) I think he was attempting to do broken English to confuse me.

We would have reported it but the man's entire account was in Chinese and we had no way of getting the information afterwards. Luckily nobody was in any danger after it all simmered down, however, so that's nice.

yup this happens /: besure to tell valve. they're pretty good and taking them down with these kinds of problems
